I first read Jamie McGuire’s Beautiful Disaster and LOVED it, so I set out to find anything else she wrote. I found the Providence Series and fell in love with this story from the start.
Nina’s story starts out where she is dealing the death of her father. She idolizes him and thought he did no wrong. The relationship with her mother is frigid at best. However, her entire world is about to be flipped completely upside down when Jared decided to sit on that bench next to her. She comes to learn that her father was not the man she believed him to be, and neither is the world she lives in. I don’t want to give any spoilers but the story of Nina and Jared is absolutely breath taking. They have to fight everything to try to have any kind of relationship. Jared is amazing and I can’t imagine anyone ever hating him. He is perfect in every way for Nina. Nina is a bit naïve but I expected as much being a YA.
Claire, Beth, Kim, Ryan and Bex are hysterical. Claire who throughout most of the first book is awful to Nina, but you understand why she acted that way. I would love if she wrote a spin off about Claire (hint hint).
I don’t particularly like fantasy books but I could not put this book down. It is somewhat paranormal but it is angels and demons. There is a lot of biblical references and I had to re read at times just because I didn’t “get it”, but I still loved every second. My only reason keeping it from being a full 5 stars is because there were some contradictions in the third book especially. For example, they were going to Virginia Beach, however in a few pages later they were on their way back from another city. I just was confused at a few parts
I have read this book series at least 4 times and probably will read it again ;)
