Jocelyn Butler has been hiding from her past for years. But all her secrets are about to be laid bare…
Four years ago, Jocelyn left her tragic past behind in the States and started over in Scotland, burying her grief, ignoring her demons, and forging ahead without attachments. Her solitary life is working well—until she moves into a new apartment on Dublin Street where she meets a man who shakes her carefully guarded world to its core.
Braden Carmichael is used to getting what he wants, and he’s determined to get Jocelyn into his bed. Knowing how skittish she is about entering a relationship, Braden proposes an arrangement that will satisfy their intense attraction without any strings attached.
But after an intrigued Jocelyn accepts, she realizes that Braden won’t be satisfied with just mind-blowing passion. The stubborn Scotsman is intent on truly knowing her… down to the very soul.
From the beginning of this book I could tell that Jocelyn, or Joss as she prefers, was going to be my new favorite character. She is independent and appears to be strong. Joss meets Braden by chance while catching a cab.
“The Suit wasn’t classically handsome, but there was a twinkle in his eye and a curl to the corner of his sensual mouth that, together with the rest of the package, oozed sex appeal.”
When Joss finally is able to get out of the cab she thinks that she won’t see the Suit ever again. Boy was she wrong! Braden turns out to be the brother of Joss’ new roommate, as well as the owner of the new apartment she has moved into. The attraction is there, whether she wants it to be or not.
Joss keeps her guard up as she settles into life with her new roomie, and the brother who always seems to be around. The histories of the characters are weaved into the story allowing us to learn about them a little at a time. Braden seems to enjoy ruffling Joss’ feathers and getting her all worked up. When Braden lets it be know that he won’t share Joss with anyone it’s game on.
“After last night, there’s no denying the promise of what’s between us. I’m not backing off, so rather than coming up with a new defense-which I’m sure I’d find highly entertaining-just give in, babe. You know you’re going to eventually.”
They come to an agreement to have sex, no strings attached, however it becomes so much more. Joss and Braden learn more and more about each other and their feelings grow. The two are experienced in bed and it shows, this book is H-O-T! I laughed when things were good and cried when I thought things were over, I was always left wanting more. The ups and downs had me reeling!
I could not put this book down and was glad that I didn’t! An amazing story with characters that you can truly like, and dislike at some points, and it works.
