How do you move on when he’s every song you sing?
After Laurelyn Prescott walks away from the love of her life, she returns to Nashville to pursue the only dream she has left. Determined to find a distraction from the pain of losing Jack Henry, she immerses herself in her music. But with her old life comes old acquaintances and new expectations. When Laurelyn refuses her record producer’s outrageous demands, she finds herself without a career—until an unforeseen opportunity presents itself. From there it’s a rocket ride straight to the top where Laurelyn finds the success she’s always dreamed of. Will it be enough to bring her the happiness she so deserves, or will the absence of Jack Henry leave her wanting more?
Jack Henry McLachlan never expected to fall in love with Laurelyn Prescott—but he did. After he foolishly let her slip through his fingers, he spends three months searching for her, but their reunion doesn’t come easy. The woman he finds isn’t the same one who drifted away without a goodbye. No longer an insecure girl on an Australian adventure, this Laurelyn is a successful musician with a promising career. Her dreams are becoming a reality, and Jack is terrified his American girl won’t have a place for him in her new life. With only a month to convince her otherwise, will it be enough time to make her visualize a life beyond the glitz and glamour, a life that includes him?
I am proud to say that I am a card carrying member of the Beauty from Pain Support Group. I fell in love with Laurelynn and Jack Henry when the first book was released. I found the group before I started blogging, and was happy to find a group of amazing ladies who shared the love of their story as much as I did. As you can imagine I was one of the many who STALKED Amazon, and other sites once we knew that Georgia Cates had hit “submit”. I downloaded the book at midnight and could not resist starting to read. Finally at 3 am I put it down (47% into the book).
Laurelynn and Jack Henry are starting to find out what life is like without the other. Laurelynn left Australia without a goodbye as Jack Henry was on his way to beg her to stay. They are both beyond miserable. The pain of their separation takes an emotional toll on each of them.
“I’ve lost the only thing that ever made me feel alive.”
Laurelynn is back in Nashville when her career gets a big break. Her music becomes her release for all of the heartache and sadness she has over losing Jack. The love that she has for him is still as strong as it was the day she left, and she longs for him.
“Every song I write from here on out will be about Jack Henry. That’s how our tale will go on and on forever—through my music. He will always be every song I sing”
Jack Henry is not better then she is, he is beyond pain. He misses her desperately, and vows to find her. It takes him 3 months till he finally finds her. When he finally sees her, he realizes that she is not the same woman who left Australia. She has found success with her music and he somehow has to convince her that he can be enough and win back her trust.
When they reunite it is heartbreaking and amazing at the same time. I can’t tell begin to tell you the emotional rollercoaster you ride. It is not the reunion that I would have predicted that is for sure. Then again, with the past and insanity that these two have endured together, I shouldn’t have been surprised. Laurelynn is faced with a decision, will she chose the man of her dreams or her music? I died a little big during these parts, knowing that her heart was aching but she didn’t want to be crushed again. Then when your in Jack Henry’s head you feel how much he loves her, and how afraid he is that she will let him walk out of her life. Beauty from Pain wrecked me, but Beauty from Surrender gives you a pain and love.
“Laurelyn, I once asked you to be mine for three months. Now, I’m asking you to be mine forever.” She opens her mouth to speak and I place my fingers to her lips. “But I don’t want your answer right now because you’re not ready to say yes. You still need time to spread your wings and fly. I love you with all my heart and I want you to experience everything this life has to offer you because it won’t wait. But I will. I’ll wait for you as long as it takes, and you can come to me after you ‘ve had enough of this life…when you’re ready to spend forever with me.”
The only thing I can say about this book is “FAN-FUCKING-TASTIC”!! It was worth the lack of sleep I endured to obtain and read this book. Myself and I am sure a lot of my support group members are now suffering our “book hangovers” and are all hoping that we don’t have to wait too long until Ms. Cates gives us a little more of Jack Henry and Laurelynn!!
