Lexi has finally given up her once destructive relationships and moved onto bigger and better things with a sexy new man in town. Just when she is starting to figure it out with him, her world is tilted once again with a phone call from none other than Ramsey Bridges. A year after his entrance into her life, Ramsey is trying to make amends and does the one thing she never expects—invites her to Jack’s wedding.
The wedding she had evaded at all costs. But no matter what she does, Lexi can’t seem to escape her past with Jack. But does she really want to?
Despite the explosive chemistry between Lexi and Ramsey, she is skeptical about trusting him after everything that has happened. When things are amiss with him, she starts questioning his motives. Can Ramsey be the one to remove Jack from Lexi’s life permanently or should she move on with her blossoming new life?
A Schmexy Girl Book Club Review
Hello again to all of our Schmexy fans! It is finally time to do my follow-up review in the Avoiding Series by K.A. Linde. If you have not already seen my review of Avoiding Commitment go check it out and then come back….I’ll wait….
OK! So for this Author Spotlight and review of Avoiding Responsibility I have enlisted the help of my good friends from my Schmexy Book Club, they are the reason that Amy and I started this blog in the first place. I think I can speak for all of them when I say that this has been one of our favorite series and we were blessed to have K.A. join us in our discussions!
These are some of the comments from our discussions:
Melissa – Ok so I too finished AR. I have transferred “some” of my despise for Lexi over to an all-out-hatred for ‘Blecka’. I still don’t think highly of Lexi however she gained some points back with me with the swift knee to the nads. I do have to say, I love Ramsey however, his lying doesn’t put him on a pedestal. I’d still have to say #TeamRasmey. How long do I have to wait for the next round? LOL
Melissa – Jack and Bekah can go honeymoon on a cruise ship…as in the Titanic.
Kim -BLECKA Haters! It’s all that bitches fault
Let’s begin! Once again we are bounced back and forth from the past to the present, it’s been a year since Lexi got on the plane to go home. There is ALOT of Ramsey in this book which I loved because I am totally #TeamRamsey.
Here is a little timeline of our favorite scenes to tell you how much we all loved this book!
We start off where Ramsey asks Lexi to come to Jack and Bekah (AKA Blekah to us schmexy girls) wedding. I am not really sure what in the world he was thinking but then again I understand that he wanted Lexi by his side. I will hand it to Lexi she put up a good fight!
“She was not, under any circumstances, going to see her sorta-non-ex-boyfriend get married, to anyone. She couldn’t do it and nothing he said was going to make a difference.”
Ramsey and Lexi see each other for the first time in awhile and things get schmexy…
“His hand moved between their bodies and began massaging her clit through the soft material, pushing her closer to the edge. She broke apart from his lips gasping for air. Biting down on her bottom lip, she lustfully looked up into his eyes giving him all the information that he needed.”
I felt so bad for Lexi as she confessed her feelings to Ramsey. Ramsey asks Lexi for clarification about her “relationship” with Jack…
“We have such a long history that when I look into his eyes that’s all I can see. I forget the stupidity of what we’ve done and who could get hurt. I just remember the man who loved me once,” she muttered softly, her heart hurting from the admission. “It’s like a moth to a flame.”
Lexi and Ramsey’s relationship has a lot of things to overcome. Ramsey hurts her, he has a lot of demons and flaws. There are major trust issues which really anyone can understand because of what type of relationship that Jack and Lexi had. In a heated moment while she is pissed at Ramsey, Lexi says…
“Do you want to just fuck me in front of all your friends? Because all you seem to be doing is fucking me over Ramsey.”
I was a little worried about the some of Ramsey’s past showing up and where this storyline is going to lead. Ramsey made a HUGE mistake which made everyone questions their allegiance to their team choices. I loved how much strong Lexi is throughout this book. She starts to stand on her own more and more. Showing that she deserves so much better than she settled for in the past. Ramsey seemed like he was going to be that for her, but Lexi realizes how much Ramsey has betrayed her. She has to make a choice.
“I did and still do love you as much as when I first told you that night at the beach. You are the only woman I could think of being with from now until eternity. Please try and believe me when I say that.” “Lexi, it is for you. I’m working to make things better for you.”
So the dreading wedding, I just wanted to scream at this point, but O M G does K.A. Linde do an amazing job at the ending. She sucks you and keep you there. Here is again where I really could FEEL Lexi’s growth as woman. She stands up to him making him remember the man he is, and what he has done to her.
“But you proposed to her only hours after having sex with me! That’s disgusting.”
There is one moment where I felt my heart soften for Jack (however brief). I just wished that he would have done this way sooner. Maybe he could have saved Lexi a lot of heartache and pain.
“I’ve never treated you that way I should have. I told you once that I’d never go back to change what happened between us. That I might miss out on what we had. But I was wrong. I would do anything I could to go back to that time when we could have been together and change the way I acted. I’d change it , because we were gated to be together however, brief, however unbelievable, however painful, however flawed.”
I can honestly say this book has more twists and turns than a carnival ride. I was so proud at times and angry beyond belief. I think that is the beauty of this amazing series. You feel emotion, whether it is anger, sadness, disgust, happiness, or hope, it is all there in your heart and on your reading device. I know that when this series ends I will have an extreme book hangover. I am already prepared for an anxiety driven few days when the last book in this must read series is released.
