A sexy, emotional New Adult romance about a bad boy on the edge and a good girl about to lose control…
The star catcher of the college baseball team isn’t supposed to have skeletons in his closet. But Daniel Quinn is hiding a guilty past so dark he refuses to let anyone get close. Except there’s something about gorgeous, studious Ella Abrams that goes beyond the electric attraction between them—something that makes him want to open up.
Ella has suffered enough heartache and guilt to fill one of her psychology textbooks, but she keeps that part of herself hidden behind a bubbly exterior. Until she receives an anonymous call while working the suicide helpline and the voice on the other end touches something inside of her that she can’t ignore.
Soon Ella and Quinn’s physical connection heats up, even as their deep and revealing hotline talks intensify. But by the time Ella realizes that her seductive jock and her sensitive caller are the same guy, it might be too late to save him—or to stop herself from falling too far.
*A companion novel to ALL OF YOU
“One man’s pebble in the road of life was another man’s boulder.”
This is the story of Ella and Quinn, two people that have experienced two similar, yet entirely different situations in their past, but felt parallel emotions. One dealt with it internally for years, and has the blame and the guilt that consumes him daily and the other dealt with it in a positive way, and channeled it for the better. Ella and Quinn use not only their feelings for one another, but their internal feelings to free them out of the darkness towards the light, to start living and loving again.
Honestly, I didn’t know if I could read this story because the issue hit so close to home and my heart, but Christina Lee made this such an intense yet positive story for me and I would honestly not recommend this story enough for our followers. She turned what is a hard issue for some to discuss and directed it into an encouragement read for us to follow.
It was an A++ in my book and has three thumbs up in my book!
Ella experienced the suicide of her brother back when she was in high school. She dealt with the grief, loss and anger and used these emotions towards her psychology degree. Ella also works at a suicide hotline where she receives numerous calls from a caller named Daniel. He is struggling to make it each day because of his past, and this guilt completely consumes him.
“I wasn’t sure why I was thinking about him. It was something about the tone of his voice, I decided. Something desperate, broken, hollow. Maybe that was how Christopher would have sounded the night he took his own life.”
Quinn is the star of their college baseball team. He is the quiet, reserved athlete that all the girls’ want, but lives in a state of misery because he is leading someone else’s dreams because he believes he deserves to.
“The truth is, Ella said. I’d only have to look in your eyes to see a person filled with an overwhelming amount of guilt and pain.”
“Even though Quinn had no claims on me, my gut told me he wanted me, and this time, I was listening. But something was holding him back. Something in his past that he needed to work through. Someone or something had hurt him, and that made me feel protective of him.”
Quinn and Ella are pulled towards one another by an unknown force, however can they both succumb to these feelings or are they stuck in their past?
But who will Ella chose? Will it be Daniel, who Ella has become so attached to speaking to on the suicide hotline and whom she tries to heal and really cannot get out of her heard or will it be Quinn, the guy she believes now owns her heart? Both produce different feelings in her, but also help to mend her heart from her brother’s death. Can she honestly choose between these two guys?
