Their world was passion, pleasure and secrets.
Far too many secrets. But Clay Nichols can’t get Julia Bell out of his mind. He’s so drawn to her, and to the nights they shared, that he can’t focus on work or business. Only her. And she’s pissing him off with her hot and cold act. She has her reasons though–she’s trying to stay one step ahead of the trouble that’s been chasing her for months now, thanks to the criminal world her ex dragged her into. If only she can get out of this mess, then maybe she can invite the man who ignites her back in her life, so she can have him–heart, mind and body.
He won’t take less than all of her, and the full truth too. When he runs into her again at her sister’s wedding, they have a second chance but she’ll have to let him all the way in. And they’ll learn just how much more there is to the intense sexual chemistry they share, and whether love can carry them well past the danger of her past and into a new future, after this night…
Here we are again ladies. The wonderful world/mess of Clay and Julia. Night After Night ended with a bang and heartache, or a head ache. I was so upset, so upset. Clay left Julia, just like that. I was so sad for Julia, and totally understood where Clay was coming from. But come on dude. You just leave her like that? Alone?
Well now in After This Night we know what happens after that night he leaves poor Julia. I honestly have this sudden need to protect Julia. She’s in some deep shit with these mobsters and I was so looking forward to Clay for protection. Clay needs to stay away from her. He needs honesty. But how long will that last; how long can Clay deny that pull he has with Julia?
And just as much as Clay NEEDS to stay away from Julia, it all starts again with just one email. Clay received an email from Julia, trying to explain herself. She misses him, so much.
” I want you in my life so badly that I can feel this ache where you’re supposed to be.”
And Clay can’t take this. Because he wants her back to much. So they slowly get back into a groove of emails, and phone calls and chatting. Its perfect. It’s what needed to happen.
I love this couple to death. I really just cuddled up with my kindle while I was reading all of this yummy stuff. Lauren Blakely really does a great job of selling their story, their connection to the readers. You fall in love with Clay. I mean, yes, he wants her back. But their conversations are just WOW!!!
“Tell me where your hand is now.”
“Between my legs. Moving faster,” she said. and let out a sexy cry that sent heat waves throughout his bones and blood.
“Are you writhing there on your bed?”
“With your legs wide open?
Yes CLAY!!! My legs are wide fucking open for you dude! Now get your ass to San Fran and do something about it! HOLLA!! That’s what I wanted to say!
Needless to say, I am very happy with the outcome because Clay and Julia find their way back to each other again! Which makes me happy in pants.
I love that Clay makes the decision to trust her. And put it all out on the line. Being without her is way worse. So he takes the risk. So glad he did. It would have pissed me off if he didn’t! So YEAH!! Points for Clay!
Now for me, the rest of the book is just so fucking great!! Because at any given time I really had no idea when this was all gonna blow up in Julia’s face; this man that has her by the balls; that keeps Julia from telling the truth to Clay. But no more. She must come clean.
Its so angsty for me. I am so torn between how Clay might react; will he choose to help her, or not. Will this asshole Charlie, ruin things for Julia and her business?
There are so many things that can go wrong for her. Julia needs to be CERTAIN that she can trust Clay to stay the fudge out of her business with Charlie and let her handle it. She needs to trust that he will keep his word.
“I want you to believe me with the same certainty that you want to fuck me,” she said, pushing on his chest now. Flames of anger licked her chest. She’d open her deepest, darkest secret and she didn’t want a shred of doubt.
Her situation is just so complicated. This whole book had me on the edge of my seat, wondering when its all gonna fall apart. You really see the love and possession Clay feels for Julia. Just reading how much he needs her, wants to protect her, wants to fuck her. My God!!! He amazes me!!
“I care about you woman. And I haven’t fucked you in a month, so if I were you I’d be thinking about how you’re going to spend the rest of the reception without any underwear on because its about to come off.”
This is the Clay we all know and love my Schmexy ladies. This book is fucking action packed AGAIN with Lauren Blakely madness…The madness of orgasms that make you wanna scream CLAY and not your husband’s name!! Yeppers!! He’s that MINT!
But as much as I loved the Schmexy stuff, you do remember there is a crazy story line here. And trust in an issue. And Julia needs to be able to trust. And shit goes down.
“I need you, the man I love, to never deceive me. I want to be on your team, but you’ve got to play fair.”
What will happen with these two? Will they ever trust? How will Julia get out of her mess with the mob? She’s in so much danger, can Clay help? Or will he make it worse???
We have to thank the lovely Lauren Blakely for writing such HOT material. I can sit here and quote Clay all day and talk plot and how fucking awesome this story is. And no thanks to her amazeballs writing style. I just love love her writing. I will forever be a Lauren Blakely reader!!! She gets my 5 HOLLAS!! HELLS YEAH!
