When I was ten, my father indoctrinated me into the family.
A brotherhood who would fight, protect, and give their lives for one another. A club whose ties ran thicker than blood, murkier than the dirt and grime that tainted my soul. Stronger than the bonds that connected me to my own family.
A band of brothers where loyalty was kept and paid in a currency of blood.
When I was twenty-seven, I betrayed that brotherhood.
I’ve spent every day since running, avoiding paying back that debt.
My name is Daniel Johnson, and I have betrayed everyone I ever loved.
This is my story—if you’re screwed up enough to want to read it.
Warning: KICK contains graphic violence, profanity, drug use, and explicit sexual situations of a taboo nature. Intended for an 18+ audience only. Not intended for pussies.
Dark. Gritty. Raw. Ugly.
Kick met up to its title. It’s a kick in the stomach. It will knock you down and literally kick you’re a$$.
“I’m no Prince Fuckin’ Charming. I’m an arsehole. I’m cruel, and I’m a criminal with no moral compass.”
I absolutely adore Carmen Jenner. Her books are hot with these male characters that bring you to your knees. When I heard about Kick, I knew I had to read even though I’m not a fan of MC books. I figured if anyone could make me fall in love with an MC it would be Carmen.
Did this book make me swoon? No. Did it make me wish I was a club whore? No. Did it make me wish I was one of the chicks on the back of am MC’s bike? ABSOFREAKINLUTELY.
Kick is not the romancer. He is hard as nails, broken and is so f*cked up in the head which carries over to the way he is in the bedroom. Violence is all he knows. He pretty much gets off on. He seems to go for the women who are just as messed up as he is.
“I like to watch her cry. I taste her tears. I relish them. Because pain is beauty, at least in my world. And everything in my world is pain.”
With a past just as screwed up as his present, Kick lost someone he loved and he screamed “redemption” to me. Like if he could repeat history and possibly save someone it would somehow help him move forward in his life.
“I love the broken ones because for a brief second, in the heat of the moment, I can forget how fucked up I truly am inside. I can forget about the darkness that I crave. I can forget who I am and focus on someone else’s pain, because that has to be infinitely better than wallowing in my own.”
We get both past and present, giving us one f*cked up ride, but really seeing all that Kick has been through.
I’m purposely being vague here. You saw the synopsis You know it’s not for the faint at heart, blah blah blah, but what I can tell you is Carmen Jenner knows her shit. She can write anything. This book shows you what it’s like to live an MC’s life. It’s not pretty. It’s not something I’d love to run off and do. If you’re looking for something that will take you out of the box and out of your comfort zone, this is one to dive in to. I can’t wait for the next book in the Savage Saints MC series! Cue the applause!!!

About Carmen Jenner
Carmen Jenner is a thirty-something author, doctor, pilot and CIA agent.
She’s also a compulsive, flagrant prevaricator who gets to make things up for a living.
While Sugartown may not technically exist, Carmen grew up in a small Australian town just like it, and just like her characters, she always longed for something more. They didn’t have an Elijah Cade, though. If they did, you can be sure she would have never left.
