Ex-Army Ranger, Brand Killien, has always been good.
A good friend, a good soldier, a good everything. .
The problem is, good hasn’t gotten him anything but a crushed heart.
So after licking his wounds, he decides to move on. And moving on doesn’t include being good anymore.
Bad sounds so much better.
Jaded and detached, Brand is determined to never open himself up to anyone again. It’s not worth the pain. Instead, he becomes closed, hardened, aloof.
But then he’s called back home for a family emergency… a family that he is estranged from. A family that he put out of his mind a long time ago for very good reasons…reasons that involve secrets and pain. Reasons he tried hard to forget.
But home is where the heart is, and it just might be where Brand finds his again.
Why? Because home is where Nora Greene is. A fiery, red-headed spitfire, Nora is a thing from his past. A beautiful, feisty thing. When Brand left, she was away at boarding school.
But she’s back now.
And she wants Brand, scars and all.
I love the Beautifully Broken series and I couldn’t wait to sink my teeth into Brand’s story. Courtney Cole seriously knows how to write a steamy book with the heat level between the two main characters going through the roof!
I’ve always loved Brand Killien. He has such a big heart and is always there for those who need him. He is a decorated Army Ranger who now owns his own security business. After his father’s passing, he is called back to Angel Bay to finalize the will and other business. Upon his return, he rescues Nora Greene and is injured in the process.
When Nora is rescued and Brand is incapable of taking care of himself, Nora is adamant about nursing Brand back to health. She’s always had a thing for him, but being that she was younger than him, he didn’t take notice. She’s hoping he will finally notice her.
“…he’s always been the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen… he makes me feel good. Safe and Sound. Like when I’m with him, nothing can hurt me, nothing can touch me.”
Wow, what messed up pasts they both have. I can’t even say one had a worse hardship than the other. With all they’ve been through and the events of their pasts, I was shocked they were even able to make it through a day without losing their minds. Incredible pain, sadness, and the brokenness they’ve faced.
They agree to a summer filled fling filled with sex and no attachments. Brand is hesitant at first—he believes Nora deserves so much more. But he can’t deny his attraction to her. He’s just hoping she begins to believe it. Erase her insecurities and doubts. So he shows her, again and again.
“So instead, I show her what I’m thinking.
Once the summer ends, Nora must work for her father’s company, something she has no desire to do, but has no choice in the matter. Nora is forced to just go along with her father’s plan for her future.
The attraction between Brand and Nora is off the charts!!
They both feel as if they are not good enough for each other, their undeniable chemistry is palpable and they have hot freakin, melt your panties off sex—over and over. So many messed up secrets, each in their in pain and a boatload of baggage, they struggle to fight the feelings that just seem to keep growing. They don’t want feelings getting in the way. Yeah… like that can happen!!!
Brand is an extremely hot BBF! Nora is a heroine who tries so hard to be strong, but always feels like her past and secrets will lead to her fall.

About Courtney Cole
Courtney Cole is a novelist who would eat mythology for breakfast if she could. She has a degree in Business, but has since discovered that corporate America is not nearly as fun to live in as fictional worlds. She loves chocolate and roller coasters and hates waiting and rude people. Courtney lives in quiet suburbia, close to Lake Michigan, with her real-life Prince Charming, her ornery kids (there is a small chance that they get their orneriness from their mother) and a small domestic zoo.
