Two stories so deeply intertwined, you’ll think you know how they intersect…but you’ll be wrong….
The day I met Emily Bennett my whole world changed. Sure, we were just kids, but I was old enough to know my life would never be the same. She was my best friend. My destiny. My fate. I wasn’t wrong…I just didn’t know how twisted fate could be.
After the death of my mother, moving from my dark and dreary trailer park to sunny California, I was focused on one thing – finding a sister I’d only just learned existed. Falling in love with him wasn’t part of the plan. But he filled a void I never knew was possible to fill. He had to be my fate. My destiny. Until the day I finally found out who my sister was…and how twisted fate could be.
I want to shout from the rooftops about this book…..stop what you are doing…..click here and BUY THIS BOOK! I had planned on reading this book in bits and pieces over the course of a busy weekend, I started with the first 10% before bed and had to force myself to go to sleep. The next day….I binge read the rest ignoring my need for sleep and getting my chores done around the house. I also immediately gifted 2 copies to some special people that I know will love it as well. With that being said, let me actually talk about the story :)
The book starts out giving us 2 different stories, Zack in California and Nikki in Texas. Two people that have never met yet their lives will collide in an unexpected way.
Zack is your all American boy from a good family, on the football team, cheerleader girlfriend….
I think I fell in love with Emily before I even understood what falling in love meant.
but things can’t always be perfect….
“You’ll be sorry tomorrow, Zack Martin. And, you know what, by then it may be too late.”
Nikki is suffering a tremendous loss and her world is about to be turned upside down. She moves to California where she meets Zack yet they don’t speak a word to each other for the longest time. I loved their “wordless game of charades” and the way that they challenged each other to speak first.
It was hard to read about these two young people who are both so lost. Secrets can tear people apart and I was just waiting for one of them to break. Zack carries such a weight on his shoulders, I wanted to hug him and make it all better.
What is it that enters Zack’s head and robs that flicker from his beautiful eyes?
He is really hard on himself and Nikki just doesn’t know what to do to help him. Hearing from each of them in their POVs you realize how they are feeling yet they don’t always talk to each other about it, they can see the pain and hurt the other feels but they don’t know the real reasons behind it all.
In her face, I see a look I know too well. Apprehension. Desoloation. Pain. Whatever I said to put it there, I wish I could take it back.
Zack and Nikki have this amazing relationship. It is easy going and on the surface it’s light hearted. They joke with each other and can joke around. Zack is super sweet and has his special way of making Nikki melt.
Again, without words, this boy has taken my breath away, and maybe even a little piece of my heart.
Nikki and Zack may be young but they are wise beyond their years. Their experiences have made them grow up more than they should have for their age.
“Let’s not look backward anymore, let’s keep moving forward.”
I simply could NOT put this book down, I was SHAKING with anger, crying with sadness, and glowing from the love they share. This is a book that is full of the feels and one that is sure to stay with me for a long time.
Love needs no words. You had me before you even spoke.

About the Authors
Vi Keeland is a native New Yorker with three children that occupy most of her free time, which she complains about often, but wouldn’t change for the world. She is a bookworm and has been known to read her kindle at stop lights, while styling her hair, cleaning, walking, during sporting events, and frequently while pretending to work. She is a boring attorney by day, and an exciting smut author by night.

Dylan Scott is a New York trial attorney, wife and mother of four. She believes her job as a trial attorney is a subcategory to the field of entertainment more than law. With a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature she believed teaching English was a destined career choice until she realized her life long talent of “argument” could actually be her job. A recent, fairly boring, midlife crisis resulted in a brief stint as a middle school English teacher which confirmed that she wasn’t ready to give up the law. Dylan has also taught legal courses at the college level and worked with at-risk inner city youth in the roles of mentor and coach. She is co-author Vi Keeland’s biggest fan.
