The Beautiful Disaster and Walking Disaster phenomenon continues in the first heart-pounding new adult romance in The Maddox Brothers series.
Fiercely independent Camille “Cami” Camlin gladly moved on from her childhood before it was over. She has held down a job since before she could drive, and moved into her own apartment after her freshman year of college. Now tending bar at The Red Door, Cami doesn’t have time for much else besides work and classes, until a trip to see her boyfriend is cancelled, leaving her with a first weekend off in almost a year.
Trenton Maddox was the king of Eastern State University, dating co-eds before he even graduated high school. His friends wanted to be him, and women wanted to tame him, but after a tragic accident turned his world upside down, Trenton leaves campus to come to grips with the crushing guilt.
Eighteen months later, Trenton is living at home with his widower father, and works full-time at a local tattoo parlor to help with the bills. Just when he thinks his life is returning to normal, he notices Cami sitting alone at a table at The Red.
As the baby sister of four rowdy brothers, Cami believes she’ll have no problem keeping her new friendship with Trenton Maddox strictly platonic. But when a Maddox boy falls in love, he loves forever—even if she is the only reason their already broken family could fall apart.
In the first installment of the Maddox Brothers books, readers can experience the rush of reading Beautiful Disaster for the first time, all over again.
Here we are ladies. We all waited patiently for Trent’s story. I could not wait to see what tale Jamie would spin. And oh did she ever tell a tale for us. I was so curious to see what kind of a man Trent would be; would he be a tough guy like Travis; or soft and light hearted. Well I am happy to say, I think Trent is somewhere in the middle.
The story follows Trent and Cami. Trent is now a Tattoo Artist, having left collage because a tragic car accident just completely messed him up. Cami attends Eastern State with her awesome bestie/roommate Raegan. They also tend bar at the Red Door. It’s a popular hangout and the place where Trent and Cami become reacquainted. Cami having known Trent since they were kids, is very familiar with this reputation, so she is very caution and wary when Trent comes on to her really strong. Cami also has a boyfriend who she loves but rarely sees due to his job. He also lives in California, so that doesn’t help. So what happens when the cat’s away? HMM……Do the mice play?
Well Cami definitely keeps the play pretty cool for a while and just spends time with Trent as friends. Yeah because that’s gonna work. Those Maddox brothers want something, they go and get it.
So the back and forth banter between Trent and Cami is just hysterical. Jamie jumps right in, no holds barred here. I was loving this book from the beginning. Had my full attention. The dialog is just so raw, and real! No fluff, no bullshit. Just real deal.
Cami just wants to be friends, Trent clearly doesn’t. He really is so in love with Cami, you can see it. Their connection is quick and easy. And so endearing. And truth be told, I don’t care who the hell your boyfriend is. Dude, he’s NOT around, you are NOT his priority. His job is, and you have this HOT Maddox pining for your affections. And he’s all tatted up!!
“What are we doing, Cami?” he asked. “What is this?”
“We’re friends! I’ve told you that already!”
As much as TJ sounds like he loves Cami, he is just too busy for her. Trent, he’s not to busy!! And he wants her bad!!
I love Trent’s character; he’s a go getter that’s for sure. He wants it. He gets it. Truthfully, Trent surprised me. He is still a bad ass. He’s a Maddox so he kinda needs to live to up to that. But he has a different side to him; a tender side. He’s caring and funny and sarcastic. Makes for a great friendship between him and Cami.
Cami is always wondering why she stays with TJ, when she has this great guy that likes her, and takes care of her, spends time with her!! Wake up girl!!!
Their whole back and forth is just heart breaking. She is so confused about TJ and Trent. She needs to just be honest with herself. And in the process she’s breaking Trent’s heart. Its feels like dying a slow death!
At times I loved and hated their dialog. When they are good….they are sooooo good. And when they are bad…it brings tears to my eyes and my heart fucking breaks in two. It really does. Trent is a sweetie but the Maddox in him comes out from time to time!!
He loves Hard…and fights dirty…
BUT…Cami has the secret…and whatever it is…its keeping her from Trent….and weirding me the fuck out!! And pissing Trent the fuck off.
This book is nothing but Mayham!! Between the push and pull with TJ and Trent, and Cami’s brothers having beef with Trent, tensions are high.
I am sooo into this book, and all the story lines. I LOVED getting to see Travis and hearing some new dialog from him. And Cami’s bestie Raegan is friggin MINT!! I Loved Raegan and Kody/Brazil.
Cami I just love! She’s independent, and loyal to her brothers, looks out for them. Truthfully, yes, she’s clearly got some issues, and decisions to make. But I do feel for her. She’s stuck between a rock and a hard place. Jamie really did a good job developing characters in this book!
Lots of angst, and heart break for me in this one. Lots of confusing feelings. Cami is honestly driving me bananas at one point. Straight up crazy town for me!! One word…Airport….Balling!!!
“Have you ever wanted something that you knew you shouldn’t have? That it was wrong on every level, but you knew you needed it? I liked where we were, Trent! And then you…we can’t get that back.”
But its this secret that is tearing her up!! and ME!!! But of course Trent is so good to her, and understanding. He will do anything for her. This is why I LOVE Trent! He doesn’t ever give up hope for him and Cami to have something. He’s driven by love, such deep love and she’s too blind to see. Mother of fuck, I wish she’d open her eyes sometimes!!
“You don’t have to tell me. If you need me to say that I’m okay with whatever I don’t know, I’m okay with it. I don’t give a single fuck,” he said, shaking his head.
“You can’t say that. You wouldn’t if you knew…”
And what is his reply…..
“I am the one, Cami. I’m it for you. I know because you’re it for me.”
Ladies this is why we love the Maddox boys. Because they love hard!!! And they get hurt, and take it!! God, Trent is killing me!! He’s amazing!!
I have to say, over all, I loved it! I waited a long time for Trent’s story. And Jamie nailed it. Totally nailed it, and then throws me for a loop at the end…..seriously the last three words just messed with my head…Like I went into rant mode….
NOW…if I told you what I was ranting about I would spoiler all the fun now wouldn’t I? And I would never do that!! So what does that mean….It means buy the book and let’s continue the rant!! Shall we??
I am still losing my bird over this….Jamie left me with so many questions…
Ever watch Lost? And at the end of EVERY Episode you get at least one question answered…and then you have at least 100 more?? Yeah that’s how I feel!!! EEEPP!!! This is crazy!! Where is the NEXT book!!! I need more like NOW!! Jamie…step to it!! #WriteJamieWrite
