Infinity + One is a tale of shooting stars and fame and fortune, of gilded cages and iron bars, of finding a friend behind a stranger’s face, and discovering love in the oddest of places.
A slice of Heaven. That is Infinity + One. I am sitting here trying to put into words how Infinity + One made me feel. There are goose bumps on my body and my heart feels full. Amy Harmon creates a symphony when she writes. Each word, each line, each paragraph—you feel like you’re floating, drawn into the harmony of her song. Her writing is flawless and magical. It’s not just a book, it’s a journey. In her own words, she leaves you, “Weightless and endless. Timeless and restless. Hopelessly breathless.” Such an incredibly beautiful tale.
Bonnie Rae Shelby is a music superstar. Having won “Nashville Forever” she has the whole world worshiping her. Financially she is set for life, emotionally—she is broken. Having lost her twin and never being given time to grieve, she decides to escape it all. Her demanding career and her God awful Grandmother who pushes and pushes her to move forward when she hasn’t even dealt with her loss.
“I was exhausted. Completely spent. Emotionally and physical done. I was tired of being told what to do, when to do it, how to do it, and who to do it with. I was tired of never making any decisions for myself. So then and there, I made a big one.”
Infinity James Clyde is a mathematical genius. With his troubled past and the loss of his twin brother, he is lost. Searching. Trying to move forward and find where he fits in the world. It seems his past never wants to let him go.
“Life had not been kind since then, and at twenty-four, six and half years after that fatal night, Finn Clyde was still brilliant, but he wasn’t nearly as young or loyal, and he wasn’t running toward trouble anymore.”
Call it fate, call it destiny, call it an intervention from their loved ones above—Bonnie and Finn, AKA, Clyde, seem to stumble into each other’s lives when both of them are so lost, so broken.
They are polar opposites in so many ways, but they fit. Like pieces to a puzzle, they complete each other. Their first kiss sealed their fate.
“Some people might laugh or roll their eyes and accuse me of tired clichés. But there it was—hot food in an empty stomach, water on a parched throat, that first glimpse of home just around the bend, or that first bite of something you thought you’d never have the courage to try, only to realize it was the best thing you’d ever tasted. That was what Finn’s kiss was like.”
Amy ties in the story of “Bonnie and Clyde”, mirroring the famous outlaw couple and their life on the run. Although their journey resembles the famous couple, our two main characters find themselves on a journey to healing and growth. They’ve experienced so much more in their short lives than many people face in a lifetime. Along the way to finding themselves, they find a love so true, so pure that you feel it in your bones.
The people they encounter and help along the way truly touched my spiritual side. I always say that people come into your lives for a reason, and these characters confirmed my beliefs.
You wonder as you’re reading if Bonnie and Finn will face the same tragic end as Bonnie and Clyde. The mystery and intrigue pulled me in even further and I followed the twists and turns anxious to know just where they would wind up.
This book is a journey. Highs, lows, ups, downs—you will be amazed and enthralled with Amy Harmon’s writing. She is hands down one of the most gifted authors I’ve come across. The beauty in her words, the intricate details and characters filled with such depth they will leave you breathless. Just incredible. Infinity + stars!!!
About Amy Harmon
Amy Harmon knew at an early age that writing was something she wanted to do, and she divided her time between writing songs and stories as she grew. Having grown up in the middle of wheat fields without a television, with only her books and her siblings to entertain her, she developed a strong sense of what made a good story.
Amy Harmon has been a motivational speaker, a grade school teacher, a junior high teacher, a home school mom, and a member of the Grammy Award winning Saints Unified Voices Choir, directed by Gladys Knight. She released a Christian Blues CD in 2007 called “What I Know” – also available on Amazon and wherever digital music is sold. She has written five novels, Running Barefoot, Slow Dance in Purgatory, Prom Night in Purgatory, the New York Times Bestseller, A Different Blue, Making Faces, and coming in June, Infinity + One.
