I’m a blogger. He’s a writer.
He was my weakness.
I was his muse.
Once upon a time my marriage was built on love…
Until it wasn’t…
Where had we gone wrong?
I had given up hope…
But then he messaged me,
And his words intoxicated me.
Made me believe in love again.
Made me believe in truth.
My imperfect truth…
Imperfect Truth is a debut novel that reads like Ava Harrison is penning her 10th book. From the start the prologue grabbed me, not to mention the synopsis. As a blogger, I was immediately intrigued by this story…a blogger having an affair with a writer. Very scandalous I must say. Nonetheless, TOTALLY READING THIS!
The story of Imperfect Truth, in my opinion, was NOT what I expected. Ava’s writing blew me away. I would call it, poetic. Because that’s exactly how it read; beautiful words to describe everything; every feeling, every place and every touch.
She is very descriptive and accurate. This story takes place in NYC, my home town. So I felt like the author was taking me on a tour; through Gramercy Park and through the busy streets of Manhattan.
I don’t want to give anything anyway because I think every reader should experience this journey for herself. It’s clear from the synopsis that Ava is a blogger and is married; unhappily to Alex. Through blogging she meets an author, Ryder. And because of her issues in her marriage, she starts up “something inappropriate” with Ryder. He takes her to places she needs to be so desperately. Ryder draws you in like a moth to a flame. I was taken by him from the start.
There were so many emotions that ran through my veins as I read; surely I was hurt for Ava, she goes through hell and back again. My heart actually hurt for her, I wanted to jump through my kindle and tell her it would be okay. Almost like we’ve all been there, it’s a relatable story. I was definitely frustrated with Alex, hating Alex, loving Alex. And Ryder, I loved him and was just as frustrated with him. God, I just wanted to scream at everybody!!! Including her ice queen of a mother in law. Her best friend and side-kick Jules was MINT!! Loved her and want a Jules of my own.
My heart was breaking for Ava and I couldn’t read fast enough.
I was going back and forth. And when you get your WOW or “WTF moment”, I swear I must have said out loud, “What the actual fuck did I just read?” I think my heart sped a moment and my face turned beet red…that’s the wow moment…
This story is sooo much more then what you would call a “cheating” story. Because that is NOT what the author is giving you. She brings you on a journey; Ava’s journey of love, and hurt, and rediscovery of self. I swear this book was like a freakin’ manual for “how to fix yourself when the going get tough”. I certainly took some of her advice for “myself”.
Imperfect Truth is a beautiful story of self discovery and everybody should read this.
For sure this story gets my 5 HOLLAS and 5 stars. And will definitely be on my Schmexy List.
When I am inspired by a story, I want everybody to read and share in my experience.
