How far will a good girl go for the bad boy she loves?
Laney Holt is a preacher’s daughter. A good girl. Her only goal was to get married, have babies, and live happily ever after, just like her parents. Only that didn’t happen. The two people closest to her betrayed her, and Laney’s dreams came crashing down. Now she’s left with an empty space she doesn’t know how to fill. Until she meets Jake Theopolis, a daredevil with a death wish who has heartbreaker written all over him.
Jake has no interest in thinking beyond the here and now. All he wants out of life is the next rush, the next “feel-good” thing to keep his mind off the pain of his past. His latest rush? Showing Laney there’s more to life than being a good girl—and that going bad can be so much fun. Her only concern now is how she can ever hope to satisfy the wild side of a boy like Jake. She’s looking forward to trying. And so is Jake.
“Some like it wild, but not me. At least not forever. I still want the same things. A man to love me more than anything. A man to put me and our family first. A man to build a life with. “
I love this story of good girl meets bad boy. Laney is the preachers daughter and this chick has a plan. And her plan is to living happily ever after with Mr. Right, have kids, buy a nice house. The whole ball of wax. What happens when the man your intending on doing that with totally screws you over? Cry? Sulk? Sit and eat ice cream all day and night??? Hells NO!! Laney goes and finds herself a bad boy.
Laney really does play it safe. She has a good job; she is smart, beautiful. Everybody in town knows her and doesn’t expect Laney to go WILD this one summer. But she kinda does. All as a result of one act of infidelity; her best friend in the whole and her fiance’ totally breaking her fucking heart. She’s left feeling hurt and betrayed and kinda left in this limbo.
Until she reacquaints herself with Jake. Jake and Laney shared a kiss back in high school. She thought he was HOT and WILD then. And ain’t nothing changed all these years later. Forced to work very closely with him on his parent’s estate, she has no choice but to deal with his advances. And by advances I don’t mean stolen smiles and small acts of kindness. Now I talking about some serious staring you down and pretty much eye fucking you. Just throw yourself at Jake already girl. Who can resist Jake? He definitely has this reputation in town, you know sleeping with every Mary, Susie and Jennie. So forgive Laney if she’s not guarded.
Jake persuades her to LIVE it up this summer, take a chance and have some WILD times…Pretty much let’s bang all summer, no strings attached! HOLLA!! Well hot damn, no strings. I am all over that. Jake is promising her Fun. Just fun. No pressure….No promises…Lots and lots and fun!!! and LOTS and LOTS of SEX!!
Okay I seriously love Jake’s character. He’s not just the wild boy from town that throws himself at woman. He’s more than that; he’s deep. This boy has issues. Dealing with the death of his parents is hard enough. But trust me he runs deeper than an ocean. He has no intensions of falling in love. Like EVER!! Not even with Laney. SEX. That’s all this can be. And to know that Jake feels this way, kinda breaks my heart.
But you know what, with all the fun they are having, and the sex, its just impossible to not fall for in love. Just SEX?? Yeah okay. These two act like they are in an adorable relationship. You fall in love with Jake and Laney.
Of course Laney still has her asshole ex-fiancé pining for her which drives me bananas, b/c I wanna punch him dead in the face. Give it up dude…She’s better than you…Have you seen the eye candy she has on her arm, in her bed, between her legs. OMG those two together are freaking HOT!!! WILD!!
“Jake, don’t stop.”
I won’t, baby. I’m gonna make you come all over me again and again. I wanna feel you squeeze me. I want you to feel it running down your ass.
And then I’m gonna lick you until you come again.”
Yeah HI!!! I’m Trish, nice to meet you. Just tell me where and when buddy and I’m there. HOLLA!! Who the heck can resist that??? Not me and certainly not Laney.
All kidding aside here, what’s great about this story is watching Jake and Laney go from two people who are looking to pleasure each other and numb the pain to a fun couple who learn more about living life on the wild side and taking chances…learning to jump…
“The chains of who I’ve always been, of who my family is and what’s expected of me, break away as I fly through the air.
Dropping, dropping, dropping, everything fades away but for a sound of the water, the feel of the wind, the thrill of the moment, and the man at the bottom.”
I became so attached to these characters, you are routing for them, fighting for Jake to let his guard down and just let love in. And then….it comes…that fucking heart ache….and I wanna just punch the kindle…Dude, follow your heart…GRRR!! I wanna just shake him. Why Jake? Why do you think you’re not good for her??? It’s his freaking past, and it haunts him, like a demon. Not to mention your breaking her damn heart and I wanna jump in and give Laney a big hug!!!
I enjoyed this story so much, its hot, its heavy, its angsty. All I want in life is to live on Jake’s peach orchard, and have sex with Jake in his barn. Yeah that pretty much sums it up!!!
So you basically need to just read Some Like It Wild, and then you’ll agree with me that you would also like to live on Jake’s peach orchard, and have sex all day in his barn! Yeppers!! It’s all M. Leighton’s fault. She writes these men!! I was in need of a cold shower after this book ended. It’s M. Leighton being WILD!!! And I love it!! And I love her!!!
About the Author
I was born and raised in the United States, and I’ve lived in several of the fabulous fifty. Though I currently live in the deep South, I spent much of my childhood up North and hope to return there one day. A few other things about me: I believe that sometimes you have to look really, REALLY hard to find the good in people, but it’s there. I believe that I’m shrinking (I swear five years ago I was two inches taller). I believe my husband is quite possibly one of the most amazing men in the entire world (I can’t be sure because I haven’t met all of them). I believe coffee and chocolate, when combined, could be the basis for world peace. I believe that Jesus rocks and communism doesn’t. I believe that white makes me look fat and black collects lint. I believe summer’s too hot, winter’s too cold and fall was made for football. I like dogs better than cats and the first movie in a trilogy is invariably the best. But most of all, I believe that love conquers all.
