One-night stands are supposed to be with someone convenient, or wickedly persuasive, or regrettable. They aren’t supposed to be with someone like him.
But after a crazy Vegas weekend celebrating her college graduation—and terrified of the future path she knows is a cop-out—Mia Holland makes the wildest decision of her life: follow Ansel Guillaume—her sweet, filthy fling—to France for the summer and just…play.
When feelings begin to develop behind the provocative roles they take on, and their temporary masquerade adventures begin to feel real, Mia will have to decide if she belongs in the life she left because it was all wrong, or in the strange new one that seems worlds away.
Sweet Filthy Boy is a brand new series by Christina Lauren. They are the creators of the wonderful hot and sexy Bastard Boys! My favs!!! So I could NOT wait to dig into this one.
It started off with a bang, as do all of Christina Lauren stories. Mia Holland and her two friends Harlow and Lola embark on a weekend trip to Vegas to celebrate their collage graduation. You know that saying, “WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS STAYS IN VEGAS”. Yeah that REALLY needs to apply for these chicks. They meet three hotties, Ansel (from Paris), Oliver (from Australia) and Finn (from Canada) at the club and ITS ON…
Mia and Ansel have some serious chemistry. They ALL do. The conversations are flowing…the drinks are flowing…the shots are flowing…a lot of shots…and Ansel is kissing Mia…kissing down her neck…she loves it…he speaks French to her, whispering in her ears…its so sexy…and he calls her “Cerie” because her lips are just red and delicious!! GOD…he will melt the thongs right off my body!
Next morning they all wake up. And they all seem to be having a “Hangover” moment. I am 100% all over this book right now! It’s fucking hysterical what goes on. At first, I was getting all sorts of nervous for Mia; what did she get herself into. My heart was beating fast. Truthfully, I wasn’t sure if Ansel and his friends were freakin “cereal killers”. But, low and behold, all six of them had the same “AH HA” Vegas moment. Mia doesn’t remember anything. It’s all so vague.
No spoilers here…so I will just leave that one alone. Trip is over…back to reality. But Ansel feels this connection with Mia and doesn’t want to part ways with her just yet. So he invites her to stay with him, in Paris for the summer. Before she starts graduate school in Boston and start her life, why not??? Mia throws caution to the wind. And she goes!!
LOVE IT!! So excited at this point. Can’t wait for this beautiful romance in Paris. But this is when the book fell flat for me. Mia really doesn’t spend much time with Ansel, at least not at first. He’s an attorney at a big law firm, and he works like a dog. He’s very dedicated, which I admire. She’s forced to visit Paris and the beautiful sites alone…Sad face!!
Don’t get me wrong, when Ansel and Mia have sex its like fireworks. Now this is classic Christina Lauren. The things they do to eachother? OH YUM!! But its the things he SAYS to her…this whole book is filled with Filthy words…Ansel might be a gentleman, but NOT in the bedroom!! Thank God!!
“Say what you want,” he growls.
“I want it rougher.”
“Make it dirty,” he says licking my mouth. “You can pretend you never have to see me again. What is your most shameful thought?”
My gaze drops to his mouth as I tell him, “I want someone to hear us fucking.”
Ansel is clearly struggling with his work schedule so he’s trying his best to make this trip a memorable one for Mia. Poor Mia is just so confused, about how to proceed. She really isn’t sure of what Ansel’s intentions are. There are also some shady things going on in Ansel’s personal life; things “before” Mia came into the picture and Ansel isn’t sharing.
” I asked you to come here and I’m always gone. I never meant it to be this way. I just…I didn’t think it through.”
Hells no you didn’t!!! I wished that Mia got the REAL experience. They did get some siteseeing in, just wished there was more of that. I felt bad for Mia; my heart really hurt for her. I wanted her to just go home. She left her life behind, for him to work?? All day??
Thankfully, the book picked up and I got my WOW moment! And holy shit it was a WOW moment. NO, it was WTF moment! It was the angst I was looking for. And it was where my heart fucking broke for Mia.
“Do you ever feel like your heart is twisted inside your chest, and somebody has their fist wrapped around it, squeezing?”
“Yes,” I whisper, closing my eyes. I can’t see him like this, the sadness I’m sure I’ll see on his face.
“Mia? Mia, I’m so sorry.”
At one point I was trying to figure out how redeemable Ansel was. I was hurt by his actions. I felt that Mia gave up a lot to make this trip for him.
All in all, I really liked this story. All of the characters spoke to me, especially Harlow and Lola. I can’t wait for their stories to be told. I just wished that Mia and Ansel’s first experience in Paris had been more.
