Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: girl meets player, they fall in love, player changes his ways.
It’s a good story. But it’s not our story. Ours is a lot more colorful.
When I met Dee I knew right away that she was special. When she met me, she thought I was anything but special—I was exactly like every other guy who’d screwed her over and let her down. It took some time to convince her otherwise, but turns out I can make a convincing argument when sex is at stake.
You might know where this story’s headed. But the best part isn’t where we ended up.
It’s how we got there.
TAMED goes back in time to the Tangled days. But this time around, it’s not Drew dishing out the advice and opinions—it’s his best friend Matthew, who of course is dealing with Dee Dee.
We kinda sorta know all about Matthew and Dee from Tangled, but I love Emma’s books so much that I had to hear it from his point of view. We get it from the very beginning. He is so honest, so sure of what he wants. And it’s not Dee’s charm, her eyes, her smile, or her voice that wins him over. Nope. It’s her fantastic rack. Frekkin hilarious!
“Delores is a gorgeous name, for a gorgeous girl. Plus, it rhymes with clitoris… and I really know my way around them. Big fan.”
Yup, that’s where he had me. I’m such a romantic!
Matthew gets Dee’s card from Kate and decides to give her a ring. They meet up for a drink and she is just so straight to the point and I loved her immediately. Anyway, they start this hot, no strings attached sex fest where no one should be getting attached.
“You’re overthinking this. We can be fuck buddies if it makes you feel better. New friends with fabulous benefits. I’ll be the scratch for your itch . . . the booty to your two a.m. call. Just . . . don’t screw any other guys—you won’t need to.”
Well, sign me up!!! I love you, Matthew!!!
But . . . he falls hard. She’s more the love ‘em and leave ‘em type. Dee has some problems committing and doesn’t want to give her heart away. We come to find out all the rough spots they went through to get from here to there. The sex was HOT, their chemistry was off the charts, and Emma’s writing was hilarious in so many places. She NAILS the male POV!
I really enjoyed this book. Emma had me laughing and feeling all hot and bothered at the same time. Matthew and Dee’s story was perfect! And I love how we get little snippets of Drew and Kate—it tied into the book perfectly. I really do love those two!! Everything I look for in a book!
Emma is an avid reader. Before her children were born she was known to consume whole books in a single day. Writing has also always been a passion and with the 2013 release of her debut romantic comedy, Tangled, the ability to now call herself an author is nothing less than a dream come true.
