Mia Monroe is running. Running from a person she doesn’t ever want to find her. Running from a past she doesn’t ever want anyone to know. Desperate to find a future, that yesterday, she could only dream of having.
Jordan Matthews likes easy. Easy women. Easy life.
Then he meets Mia.
She’s damaged, troubled and has more baggage than any person can carry. But the more Jordan gets to know Mia-for the first time in his life-he finds himself wanting to try hard for something… for someone… for her.
And then life isn’t so easy anymore.
Jordan is everything Mia shouldn’t want. A whole bunch of dirty hotness, tattooed, cocky bad boy, who made his money at poker tables and picked his women up in bars. Yet, Mia finds herself falling for him. Then the past Mia was running from, quickly starts to catch up with her. Because that’s the problem with running… you have to stop sometime.
And when you stop, you get caught.
Let me start off again by commending Samantha Towle for a really great Dual POV book! I’ve noticed this is the new trend and there are some authors who do it right and some who do not, this was done right! Number one when I was in Jordan’s head I totally believed it. I didn’t feel like I was listening to a girl talk and trying to explain how she was a guy. Number Two we didn’t have to go back in time like we missed being in Mia’s head, which is what drives me bat shit crazy. This was well written and executed.
Mia…Well within the first 4% of the book I was crying. I absolutely broke in half for Mia. She will just reach you on such a personal level, while I never grew up with the horror that she has, I can empathize with pain. Her father is a bastard and then it just gets worse for her. I literally felt like someone was sitting on my chest it hurt so bad. I loved her and wanted to her have better, she deserved better. No one every deserves the shit hand she was dealt.
“I’m pliable. Controllable. Visually, I look the part.”
Jordan…HEHE I love him. He’s strong, an ass, and made me laugh. He also hasn’t had the best life although no where near like Mia, but I think their broken and damaged parts are what drove them together. He’s a total womanizer and I love his best friend. She cracked me the hell up. Jorden’s walls are a mile high and I love watching and hoping they were going to crumble because Mia was a complete mystery to him. He was protective of her heart and was willing to deal with her pain and I loved that. It was like that whole bad boy exterior was bullshit because his emotions were raw when it came to her.
“I can hurt him, Mia. Just say the word and it’s done.”
There were some really powerful moments and I honestly loved their journey. I think that together they made each other better. Loving each other against all odds and against a lot of really heavy shit. I read this book in one sitting and loved it!! LOVED IT!!!
