I mean we are just having a ton of great things happening!!! Plus of course there is so much more to come. We felt it was time to give you a little run down on our Bookgasms and unfortunately this week we do have some Blueballs. We know these will probably cause some conversation but hey it’s how we felt and you know we give it to you straight. Without further rambling which I am sure some of you probably didn’t read.. LOL Here we go!
I have actually read A TON since we last talked… I was having a meh few days and then I got some KILLER books and I was super excited!!!! Lets start with the good!!
All the Pretty Lies by M. Leighton – AHHHH HOLY SHIT!!! I loved this book!! Thank you to the book Gods for Hemi! I swooned, I melted, I loved.. So yes.. HUGE Bookgasm from me!!
There is No Light in Darkness & Darkness Before Dawn by Claire Contreras – Again I am talking FAN-FUCKING-TASTIC!!! I seriously don’t know what the hell I was thinking waiting so long to read this series..AMAZEBALLS!!!
The Thrill of It by Lauren Blakely – I have a review coming for this one but I really liked it!! I had a bit of trouble in the beginning but once I got into the flow of it I really enjoyed their story!! Harley is so complex and I felt so bad for her and then Trey is another flawed but really interesting character! It also was totally not like anything I have read before so that was awesome. Definitely pre-order this one!
Ok, so I have two Bookgasms for this week. I know there are those of you who will be shocked with how long it took me to FINALLY read this books. I mean, even my MOTHER read this awhile ago. It has been on my Kindle forever, I have heard such wonderful things about it yet I kept putting it off. Well (*kicks own ass*) someone please smack me the next time I put off a good book.
Hopeless by Colleen Hoover – and OMG am I thrilled that I did! The story was NOT what I expected. I was drawn into the characters, Holder and Sky were amazing! I had my suspicions about what was going on but I never expected the twists along the way. I could not put this down…I even went back from my lunch break late one day because I had to keep reading.
I am totally going to fangirl over Colleen Hoover when I meet her today!
Blueballs & Rant
Clarity by Michelle Escamilla – I tried two times to read this book and I just couldn’t connect AT ALL. I think I got to 5% the first time and 8% the second time and that is when I decided the writing style just isn’t for me. I need to have a reason to read on and I couldn’t find it here. Then there is the editing issue and I noticed this in the beginning of 8%. Overall it wasn’t for me and I don’t think I will pick it up again. You can’t meet and have sex on the same page and expect me to believe it…just a warning.
Ok, so for those of you who know me…I am a mother of two absolutely beautiful, funny, smart, and charismatic girls. I am also in the education field so do not take this rant as me having anything against children or pregnancy.
I feel lately that over 90% of what I have been reading somehow involves a pregnancy. And it’s always a surprise, or it’s bad news, or it’s not wanted, or it’s the best thing in the world. Take your pick, there are so many different ways that pregnancy is being portrayed. My problem is that it is so rushed in these stories. Here is the basic storyline that I feel just about sums it all up.
*Boy meets Girl
*Boy pursues Girl
*Girl is unsure of relationship because Boy is not that type
*Boy suddenly wants relationship and wants Girl so bad that he’s willing to do anything to get and keep the girl
*Things go smoothly, then they don’t, then they’re ok *Insert roller coaster effect*
*BAM Girl gets pregnant and all is right in the world
Who ever said that the HEA needs to end with a baby? Is that the only way these men (boys in many cases) can stay with the girl?
Maybe I am crazy and reading too much into it or maybe it’s just been the luck of the draw lately with some of my book choices. Either way, I would love for author’s to SLOW down. Stop rushing the story and giving the characters babies!! Give us more of the schmexy stuff ;)
So I would like to discuss my Bookgasm for this month. Not sure how much of a “Bookgasm” I actually got reading them (LOL), but honestly, when a series can take you to places, and make you feel emotions, (I mean come on people, it’s a damn book). This is NOT reality, this is fiction. NOT real! But I clearly can’t separate those two points when I read. I am a very passionate reader; I laugh, I cry (a lot), I get depressed when something bad happens that shouldn’t be happening. Even though most of these books end in a “HEA”, getting to that point is always a challenge for me.
So when I started the Consequences Series, I was thrown. I had never read a story like this ever!! Be brave ladies, be very brave. This book was very hard for me to read due to the content. But, the author, Aleatha Romig can spin a web of lies, and truth, and deception, and love, and fear all in one damn book- well, in one series.
Three books; Consequences, Truth & Convicted. All are absolutely amazing, and sad, and heart wrenching, and twisted. And her writing is top-notch! Top notch ladies!!! I took my time on every page and soaked it all in. And interestingly enough, as twisted as this story is, you can’t stop reading. I admit you will need a break (it’s called a “Book Hangover”). But you will NEVER EVER read a story quite like this.
WALLBANGER by Alice Clayton -Wallbanger is SUCH a different book then what I am used to reading. Started off laughing my ass off at the internal battle the character has with herself over her “O”. Yes her “O” needs attention. Need a Say more. And the Wallbanger, yeah we love him. Be prepared for this hot funny ass read to rock your kindle! Full review to come this week.
