Yup it is that time again friends…time for the good, bad, and the stabby!! This is one of my favorite posts and we know you guys love it too. We will run down all the books we read this month and then tell you which made us happy and ones which maybe missed the mark a little. Plus you know we kinda get ranty and shit.
Buuuuuut I’m most excited because this is Jen’s first B&B and I think Trish has a Blueball so I am freaking the hell out!! Strap in and let’s hope for lots and lots of Bookgams!!
I haven’t really been reading too much lately. I’ve had two sick kids and of course that means I am lucky enough to have gotten what both of them had… UGH!! So my list is short and sweet but off course my rant will not be. Let’s be real you love when I get all stabby and shit.
Undone by R.E. Hunter – I read this book in a day. I made a trailer so you know I loved it. I love Luke and Embry and their story is very real. I typically don’t love 3rd person but I’ve said time and time again I will read anything well written. So hats off my dear you blew me away! #StabbyListApproved
Fighting for Irish by Gina Maxwell – I’ve read this entire series. Seducing Cinderella is probably one of my all time favorite books. Like Reid in the mirror ummmm YES PLEASE!! Anyway the next book was about Aiden and Vanessa’s sister Kat. Another knock out win for Gina. I need to find me an Irish (well I have one but you know… I want the one in the book ;) ) OH AND it’s only .99!!!!! SERIOUSLY!!
I don’t have any because again I think I literally only read one book. I started a few but then in between the sick kids and everything else I just haven’t be able to…but I’ve been on Facebook hanging out with our Schmexy Girl Book Blog Book Club Group (say that 10x fast) and laughing alot. So I guess my “rant” is more of a message to them.
DO NOT STEAL OTHERS BOOK HUSBANDS!!
Stop! Just stop it!! You are mean and cause me migraines. Go ahead roll your eyes. I may be all cute and avatar like but watch I will totally give you a kindle beat down. Then to the other bitches who decided to kill my bird.. YOU ARE NOT NICE!!! You are on my list and no not the good one. That molting pretty schmexy bird did nothing to deserve the abuse from you!
Dear Bloggers Behaving Badly – You both need some serious time outs. And remember pay pack is a BIIIIITCH!!!
To my others that behave well and don’t try to get me all riled up.. I FLOVE YOU!! FLOVE!!!!!!!!
Welcome back! This month I have had 3 bookgasms – one of which I shared with Trish ;) This was definitely an amazing month bookwise for me!! Since I can’t choose what order to put them in I will go based on the order in which I read them, let’s begin!
My first Bookgasm for January was Draw Me In by Megan Squires. This book made me laugh and UGLY CRY!!!! My emotions were all over the place with this one but it was ssooooooo worth it. Leo and Julie have this amazing chemistry that is light and easy, it was easy for me to fall in love with them. The way Megan Squires paints a picture for you is amazing, the details of their surroundings makes you feel like you are there. Be sure to check this one out!!
The next book is a dualgasm, jointgasm, whatever you want to call it, for both Trish and I. Hudson freaking Pierce is at it again, Laurelin Paige has done an excellent job on the third book in the Fixed series, Forever With You. Oh my lord this book is a panty melter ladies so go commando or have a spare pair handy. I will never forget the day that I had to talk Trish off the ledge….there was so much angst she actually hated H at one point *GASP*. After an extensive phone conversation we were on our way to recovery and we will FOREVER be in love with this whole series!!
Ok – my most recent Bookgasm this month is Coming Home by Priscilla Glenn. Any review that I start like this “Drop what you are doing…you heard me! Stop whatever you are in the middle of, put down whatever you are reading and READ THIS BOOK!! Priscilla Glenn has written an amazing story. ” means business!!!!! Danny and Leah’s story is a real, down to earth, romance with an intense twist that will shock you! I’m usually pretty good with “guessing” what the plot twist will be and I was dead wrong and very surprised. I enjoyed getting to know these characters and I know you will too :)
Jesey’s Blueballs Rant
I am happy to say that I have no books to Blueball for this month (I actually LOVE when this happens!!) I do however have another RANT to get out there. You all know that us girls here at Schmexy read, ya know, just a little bit here and there LMAO. Seriously though we read ALOT, everyday, anywhere that we can. I am always anxious to pick out my next book. So here is what I had a problem with recently, TOO MANY DETAILS!!! Now, don’t get me wrong, I love an author that can really paint a picture of your surroundings (sound familiar – see above for Draw Me In Bookgasm). This really helps you to envision where the characters are and to imagine what they are seeing before them. These are not the details that I am ranting about at all. Oh no…I am talking about books where every, and I mean EVERY character is described in full page detail. Honestly, if it is NOT a character that will be imperative to the story or at least be back in another scene….I DO NOT need to know exactly what he/she looked like, was wearing, how they were sitting, etc etc. I mean pages and pages of details that were skimmed over in order to save time and get back to the STORY that I was dying to read. That is all – End Rant!
OMG…Have I got a list for you!!! As you’re probably learning, I LOVE books with angst!!! I have quite a few bookgasms to share and found the past month to be FREAKIN amazing! I’ve been DYING to share my bookgasms with you!! Hold on to your panties because these will melt them right off!!
My first BOOKGASM ever was Cherry Girl by Raine Miller. Most of you love Raine for her Blackstone Affair series. I loved that series, too!! But, Neil McManus did something to my lady parts. He just was so damn swoonworthy that I had a hard time breathing, functioning, existing in every day life. I even changed my name to Mrs. McManus–but my real life husband was not happy with me. Anyway, he is British, hot, sweet, sexy and says things that made me weak in the knees! OMG You have to meet him!!! He has changed my life and made me want to pick up my whole life and move to ENGLAND!!! Raine is the perfect romance writer. She not only makes you swoon, she has you live the story. She captures love and beauty in her writing and sweeps you away to another time and place. Make sure you grab Cherry Girl and if you haven’t read the Blackstone Affair series, you really need to grab them!!!!
My 2nd BOOKGASM goes to Taut-The Ford Book by JA Huss!!
I have been wanting to scream about this book from the moment I read it. Ford is a genius, kinda on the weird side and has never truly been in love. He keeps pets! Yes, you heard me–PETS!! Until he meets Ashleigh–who I want to be, by the way. The things that come out of his mouth will have you fanning yourself. I found myself saying YES FORD, WHATEVER YOU WANT FORD. Want me to strip? SURE! Want me to keep quiet? YOU GOT IT! Want to tie me up and beg for it? ABSOFUCKINLUTELY!!!! He is that HOT!!! My review will be posting soon, but if you haven’t picked up this book yet, or the whole series, Tragic, Manic, and Panic–make sure you do that PRONTO!!!
My last BOOKGASM goes to Mia Sheridan for Leo, Leo’s Chance, and Stinger! (When you see Trish’s bookgasm, know I’m on board with her for that one too!!!) Well, this woman is just amazing. Her writing is out of this world. She is extremely gifted, and made me FALL IN LOVE two times!!! I want everyone to just run and go read every book she’s ever written because she is INCREDIBLE!!! LEO, OMG, I will never, ever forget those books as long as I live. She had me all twisted up and I inhaled every last word! Stinger–God, Carson Stinger is pretty close to my number one book boyfriend. The writing was fabulous, the story just sucked me in. I will forever be a fan!!!
I don’t necessarily have a BLUEBALL, but I wanted to vent about something that drives me INSANE!!! Why, oh why do readers feel it’s necessary to give away the ending of a book in a review?!!! You know what I’m talking about–spoilers galore, then BAM, they mention the whole ending!!! DRIVES. ME. CRAZY!!! I think these reviews should be BANNED and I just want to shake the reviewer and say, “WHY?!!!” This happened to me recently when reading a book that I had been waiting for. I went onto Goodreads to add to “currently reading” and happened to glance at a review that ruined the whole DAMN book!!! I read it anyway, but it definitely took away from my reading experience. It’s kinda like going to see a suspenseful murder mystery movie and knowing ahead of time “who did it”, but even worse!!! So readers, please, for the love of God, think about your fellow readers when clicking on that post button!!! Thank you!!!
I love Bookgasms. Its the best part of this post. And mostly because I get to tell you ladies which books I freakin LOVED this month. And I have three books that I would love to share you with you all; three books that will be added to my “re read” list. You all know what kinds of books I love; hearts of flowers, lots of SMUT!! And throw in some Angst and we have some Bookgasms!!!!
First we are going to start with Keep Me by Faith Andrews. Holy Hotness! Read this book knowing that Marcus Grayson will fucking rock your world. I could not wait for this book to come out so you all can witness the amazing, hot, sexy, dirty talkin, underwear model that is Marcus Grayson. This tatted up hottie blew my fucking mind in Keep Me. He wants his big sister’s best friend Tessa; his “Pretty Girl”, and he gets her by any means necessary. Doesn’t matter if its on his bike with her legs spread, or on a boat screaming out his name. As badass as Marcus is, he also has a sweet side for Tessa’s son, Luca. Watching Marcus with Luca Man….makes you want him even more!!! Keep Me does yummy things to my girlie parts…just sayin…HOLLA!!
Loving Cara by Kristen Proby. Jesus Mary and Joseph. Now this is a mutha f’in cowboy. This hot bastard riding a damn horse, all big muscles, broad shoulders, sexy hair, jeans hanging nicely around his waist. Yeah putting that aside, his love for a girl named Cara is passionate and he’s sooo freakin Alpha!! My god he wants, he takes. Oh and he takes it from her alright. He takes her places she’s never been before. Make her body feels things she’s never felt before. It’s such a hot read, a beautiful love story, and the secondary characters are an added bonus. Did I mention he loves to pull hair?? Sweet Jesus this is why I love cowboys…YEEE Freakin Haw!!!!!!
Last but certainly not least we have Archer Voice by Mia Sheridan. You get everything in this book. Mia is poetic, her writing takes you in the scene and brings you to places. This book is about a love story like no other I have ever read. I cried hard. Like ugly cry. Oh and did I ever need to cry! Archer is amazing, beautiful on the outside and painfully beautiful on the inside. It’s one of those stories that stays with you for a long time. It’s a must read.
All three of these books are 5 HOLLAS for me!! teehee!!
SPOILERS AHEAD…..I hate Blueballs. Hate Hate Hate!! But Amy was right! I get to pop my cherry. HOLLA!!
Faithful by Kelly Elliot. I know this is a favorite for lots. I really enjoyed the first two in this series. And was excited to get the rest of Josh and Heather’s story in Faithful. I just found so many aspects of the book to be so repetitive.
Kelly is following many different couples in this book; from Josh/Heather to Gunner/Ellie to Brad/Amanda and a couple of others. Let me explain repetitive: while reading sex scenes for all of these different couples it read the same. All the scenes just sounded exactly the same and it started to get quite annoying. “Faster Josh, Move Josh.” But then I would move on to a different couple and it was the same. “Move Gunner, I need you to move.” I mean come on….
And the “Winks.” Everybody fucking winks. That’s kind of annoying.
The “crying”. I have never seen so many men in a book cry or shed tears the way these cowboys do.
Plus the I love yous. Lots of those. Too many. And yet I kept reading on because I actually like the story. But what really got me, was the fact that everybody in this book is pregnant; like everybody. There has to be a plot change up somewhere. But there wasn’t.
Bottom line here, everybody winks, has the same sex, they all fucking love each other so much and everybody has a baby. Sorry, I just spoiled the whole damn book. I am ruined for blueballs. Hope you all still love me at the end.
