Hello schmexies!! Thanks for stopping by for my double review of Flow & Grip by Kennedy Ryan! I can’t wait for you to read Bristol and Grip’s story, it is PERFECTION!! Please enjoy!!
In 8 years, Marlon James will be one of the brightest rising stars in the music industry.
Bristol Gray will be his tough, no-nonsense manager.
But when they first meet, she’s a college student finding her way in the world,
and he’s an artist determined to make his way in it.
From completely different worlds,
all the things that should separate them only draw them closer.
It’s a beautiful beginning, but where will the story end?
FLOW is the prequel chronicling the week of magical days and nights that will haunt Grip & Bristol for years to come.
My Flow Review
For those of you that have read the Soul Series by Kennedy Ryan, you have already met Grip and Bristol, for those of you that don’t know them yet….what are you waiting for?! Flow is your chance to do this, it is the PERFECT introduction to these two and how they originally met. The week that the story covers will melt your heart, I never thought much about Grip in the previous stories but now he is all I can think about, I’m in love. Meeting the young naive versions of Grip and Bristol was eye opening. Such intelligence, romance and steam all rolled into this novella. Before we move on to my Grip review I’ll leave you with this:
“In this moment, I know that I’m lost to him. It has been a matter of days. It has been a string of moments. It has not been log enough to tell him, but in my heart, I know I am lost.”
and I am right there with you Bristol!!!! Read on for my full Grip Review….
Make sure you grab FLOW, the FREE prequel first!
Resisting an irresistible force wears you down and turns you out.
I’ve been doing it for years.
I may not have a musical gift of my own, but I’ve got a nose for talent and an eye for the extraordinary.
And Marlon James – Grip to his fans – is nothing short of extraordinary.
Years ago, we strung together a few magical nights, but I keep those memories in a locked drawer and I’ve thrown away the key.
All that’s left is friendship and work.
He’s on the verge of unimaginable fame, all his dreams poised to come true.
I manage his career, but I can’t seem to manage my heart.
It’s wild, reckless, disobedient.
And it remembers all the things I want to forget.
My Grip Review
When I LOVE a book I struggle with the review. There needs to be a perfect balance to make you understand just how good a book is. I have been trying to write this review in particular for two days now and I just never knew where to start. So I’m giving you what is on my mind, straight forward and to the point.
This book was perfect. Then End.
…just kidding, of course there is more! I’m going to begin by telling you what I love about Grip and Bristol….ladies first
So, I’m going to be honest. Originally, in the Soul Series, I didn’t care much for Bristol. We didn’t really know her so it probably wasn’t right for me to judge her, but nonetheless I judged and didn’t like her. Well NOW?! Now it’s a different story, her story. Bristol is this strong and independent woman on the outside who just wants to be loved on the inside. She hides behind her work and puts on a good front. The real Bristol is funny and caring and loves with all she has, there is NO WAY I can’t not like her anymore. She has proven to be one of my all time favorite female characters. And can I just tell you how perfect she is for Grip and with him, the struggle was real and I loved getting to know her and why she resisted him for so long.
“I’m still not going to be with him…”
^^^her stubbornness shines through even after she admits to herself that she has feelings for him!
Marlon James…AKA Grip to most. I was indifferent to him at first (in the Soul Series) much like I was with Bristol. Well, now things have of course changed and W-O-W, just WOW! He has won my heart a hundred times over. His strength at resisting Bristol when he needed to and his commitment to making her realize they belong together was intense. I mean he has it ALL so how could she resist forever. Grip is poetic and romantic, talented and hard working. He is loyal to a fault to his family and his close circle of friends. His determination had me cheering him on from the very beginning.
“I don’t have to scan the room or search the crowd. She’s the compass in every room.”
The magnetism between these two is something like I’ve never seen before. It’s raw and natural yet it keeps them apart like opposing magnets. There are so many levels to this story and so much to love, but I’m not going to get in to all of that. I think you can see where this will go and I really want you to read and savor everything you find along the way, I know that I did.
One thing that I do want to mention is how well Kennedy Ryan writes about a certain social issue, it is a theme throughout the story and it shows us that not everything is black and white. In a time where race is such a huge national issue right here at home, she has given us a glimpse of both sides. Grip’s words will start your wheels turning and will open your eyes!! Well done Ms. Ryan!!!!!
And this is where I will leave you, nothing more can be said without spoiling their perfect story <3
I know him. I knew him first. I had him first. I loved him first. He’s mine.
