The Reckoning Exclusive (Hard to Resist #2)
Jack Dalton was charismatic.
Johnny Outlaw was irresistible.
Two sides of the same man, passionate about two things—music and Holliday Hughes. With her intoxicating mix of strength and vulnerability, confidence and sex appeal, he couldn’t get enough of her.
Together, love was a storm of chaos and calm. When fame became a force to be reckoned with, could their love hold them together or would their notoriety tear them apart?
“This isn’t how our melody goes. This isn’t how we were supposed to play out.”
WOW!!! Just wow!!! I CANNOT believe that I am sitting here, ready to review The Resistance!!! Eeeeeeeeeepppp!!! OK…fangirling moment is over (for now ;) )
First Cd you ever bought?
Dex *laughs to himself*
Johnny Outlaw – The White Album by the Beatles.
Derrick – Wham! Don’t judge!
Dex – What the fuck? Of course I’m judging. “looks at Johnny* How did he get this gig again?
Johnny Outlaw – *laughing* Cuz he’s a kickass guitar player.
*they all look at Kaz*
*Kaz rolls his eyes* Kiss. The Revenge album. It was my brothers. He bought it at a garage sale the neighbors were having. It had been their son’s who had long since moved out. They were selling his stuff.
*Johnny looks at Dex* And you?
Dex – The Smiths. Strange Ways, Here We Come.
*Johnny laughs* How very depressing of you.
Dex – There are some amazing songs on that album.
Derrick – Yeah, if you’re actually listening and not slitting your wrists, there are some amazing songs.
Dex – Fuck you, guys. At least I wasn’t listening to Wham!
Johnny – True.
Derrick – Next Question.
Who is your musical inspiration?
Johnny – Led Zeppelin and Nine Inch Nails. Not afraid to try something different from mainstream. Authentic to their own sound. You always know when it’s a Zepp or Nine Inch Nails song.
Dex – Rush and Motley Crue. Stone Temple Pilots back in the day. Foo Fighters are badass.
Kaz – Jimmy Page, Eddie Van Halen, Slash, and Jeff Beck.
Derrick – My dad taught me how to play. My uncle was in a band. A little Stevie Ray Vaughn and definitely a lot of Angus Young of AC/DC.
Johnny – I’m surprised we work so well together with all the different influences. But maybe that’s why we do.
Who is the messiest in the band?
*in unison* Derrick!
Dex – he’s the messiest fucker ever. No manners either.
*Johnny hits Dex* Speaking of no manners…
Dex – I have manners. I just choose not to use them sometimes.
*In a bad British accent, Kaz says* Please pass the crumpets.
Silence from the other guys.
Derrick – I smoke too much.
*Kaz chuckles* I don’t smoke enough.
Derrick – You don’t smoke at all anymore.
Kaz – Hence, the not enough part. I like smoking, but yeah, bad habit.
Dex – Where do I begin?
Johnny – I think you should leave it at that, Dex. I’ve actually kicked a lot of bad habits, but I still tend to shut people out. It’s hard for me to be open.
3 Things you would take to a deserted island?
Kaz – I’ve got this. A package of pencils and a notebook to write music, and my lucky Dodgers baseball cap.
Derrick – Can I copy his minus the cap?
Kaz – No. Get your own.
Dex – I’d take a flask, flint, and a net.
Johnny – No drumsticks?
Dex – Nope, branches will work to drum, but I need something to hold water, catch food, and a fire.
Derrick – I know. I’d bring a bottle of Jagermeister, a pair of Vans, and
Johnny – I’d take an acoustic guitar, a photo, and a tarp for shelter.
Kaz – What’s the photo of?
*Johnny shakes his head, responding no to answering that*
Thank you guys so much for being here…this, was, EPIC!!
