Genre: M/M, Contemporary, Romance
Release Date: January 15, 2015
When Jacob “Dax” Daxton returns home from war, he has to fight a new battle – the one to find his place in the world. The man who normally has a clear path to victory surrounded by brothers in combat is suddenly lost and alone. After meeting Beckett Ridge, a bearded tattoo artist, Dax’s journey begins winding down an unexpected path.
Still reeling from events that shook his foundation, Beck has never been part of anything meaningful. Now faced with responsibilities foreign and daunting, Dax’s broken spirit mends Beck in ways he never even knew he was destroyed.
As both struggle to find balance, they are healed by the comfort they find in one other. On the other side of chaos, they hope to find themselves On Solid Ground.
Each book that Melissa Collins writes draws me further into fandom! On Solid Ground is a standalone novel about Beck and Dax, a tattoo artist and a military man. Both are lost and trying to find some meaning to life, a path to follow, someone to keep them steady.
Melissa paints a picture through a dual POV that was so vivid. You can feel the attraction between these two immediately. However, them not knowing if they are on the same page with their feelings kept me intrigued.
~Beckett~ As his fingers curl around my hand, warmth races across my skin. It could just be the early summer heat, but I really don’t think so. It’s the same feeling when I have the tattoo needle in my hand – buzzing with excitement.
They come together so naturally, so easily. Dax and Beck offer each other what they are missing.
~Beckett~ Dax is the antitheses of everything I appear to be, but he’s the completion of everything I want to be.
~Dax~ Need. I need him to calm me, he needs me to steady him. I need him to rouse me back to life, he meeds me to remind him that his is a good life, not one of meaningless nothingness.
My heart hurt for these two men, the struggles they have been through and the struggles that they are facing. They both have good people in their lives (you will also love the supporting cast in this story) who set them straight when needed and give them some excellent advice.
** Maybe it’s not the best time in your life or his, but there’s something there whether you want to acknowledge it or not.” **
I could not get enough of these two. Their personalities are so unique and contrasting, it’s what really makes them work so well together. Like any couple, they encounter bumps in the road along with self doubt. One thing remained clear to me though….how they felt for each other, no matter what was happening.
~Beckett~ He’s everywhere. Inside me. All around me. Completely with me. There’s no escaping him and it’s the most amazing imprisonment I’ve ever felt.
~Dax~ When I came out here, I needed time to find myself, figure out who the hell I’m supposed to be, and already, I feel like you’re a part of that puzzle.
Join Beck and Dax as they discover themselves and each other, this story will have you feeling all the feels. If you have not read an M/M book yet….what are you waiting for?! This is the perfect place to start!!
About the author
Melissa Collins has always been a book worm. Studying Literature in college ensured that her nose was always stuck in a book. She followed her passion for reading to the most logical career choice: English teacher. Her hope was to share her passion for reading and the escapism of books to her students. Having spent more than a decade in front of a classroom, she can easily say that it’s been a dream.
Her passion for writing didn’t start until more recently. When she was home on maternity leave in early 2012, she read her first romance novel and her head filled with the passion, angst and laughter of the characters who she read about it. It wasn’t long before characters of her own took shape in her mind. Their lives took over Melissa’s brain and The Love Series was born.
