“I said you look hot in those glasses. You look sexy-smart. A killer combination.”“Don’t fuck around with me, Linc. I’m not falling for your lines.” I’m pissed at myself that his words affected me and I’m pissed at him for trying to affect me.He shrugs his shoulders at me as he separates the eggs. “It’s not a line because I don’t expect anything in return. It’s the truth of what I’m thinking right now. I tend to say what’s on my mind.”His compliment should warm me, particularly because I’m sure I look less than stellar right now. Instead, all I can think is that he probably uses similar lines on all the women he comes in contact with. Unfortunately, I tend to say what’s on my mind too.“Did you say something sweet like that to the woman that gave you a blow job Friday night?”Linc looks up from the eggs and his eyes are hard. I swallow nervously.“I told you that I did not get a blow job from one of those women Friday night.” He steps around the counter and walks up to me, leaning his face down close to mine so he can look directly in my eyes. His voice is low and deliberate. “But I did fuck that woman you saw me with in my bedroom, and I fucked her hard and more than once. That’s after I got her off with my hand. You remember that part, don’t you? Now, that’s the truth.”He stares at me for just a few seconds then walks back to his eggs. But he’s not finished with me.
Let me just start by saying that I have been LOVING the Off Series books so much, and Off The Record did not disappoint me! I think that this is my favorite of the 3 so far :)Before Ever Montgomery meets Linc Caldwell to interview him, she goes through the information from her editor. This includes a picture of Linc that she gets sucked into.
“He’s every New York woman’s wet dream. Hell, he’s my wet dream too. My heart may be dead but my body isn’t.”
The interview goes well, very well and Linc and Ever get along great. Later in the evening Ever sees and hears some things, jumps to conclusions and ends up writing a pretty nasty piece on Linc. Needless to say he is furious and he demands that Ever be assigned to him for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for 6 whole weeks in order to get to know the real him.
As they begin this arrangement (one that has Ever staying at Linc’s house) there is an obvious connection between the two of them. Linc is having feelings that he never had before.
“I realize with absolute certainty that I need for this woman to see that I’m not a bad guy, And I’m not sure where that is coming from. I’ve never really cared what a woman though before other than to make sure she was pleased in bed.”
Linc is convinced that he needs to show Ever what a good guy he can be, but can he resist her and how sexy she looks with her dark hair and blue eyes, especially when she wears her glasses??
I love how this story evolved so smoothly. Linc and Ever both have their own issues that they need to work through. Linc has never considered being in a relationship and it becomes all he wants with Ever. He seems to not be able to get enough, he was insatiable and he worshipped Ever. On the other hand, Ever was what I considered to be an Ice Queen, don’t get me wrong, I LOVE her but she needs to learn to let go of the past and be in the present. She does not want to let Linc in her heart, it’s just sex to her, she cannot trust another man….or so she keeps telling herself.
“Yes, Linc was starting to make me feel. And I can’t let that happen again.”
As Ever works through her problems she is slowly begins to melt, and I began to like her even more. Linc was so sweet to her and wanted nothing more than to be with her and make her happy. Eventually there is a life changing event (as usual no spoilers) and the two are separated. Will this be the end, what will they do?? I encourage you to pick up all three of these books: Off Sides, Off Limits, and Off The Record and I’m positive you will love them as much as I have! I have also heard that there may be a 4th book coming out in August so be on the lookout for that too!
