Kira Dallaire is desperate.
Some challenges in life seem too hard to overcome. With little money, and even fewer options, the quick-witted and vibrant twenty-two-year-old needs to reinvent herself. Known for her generous heart and impulsive personality, she devises a survival plan, possibly her most outrageous idea yet.
Grayson Hawthorn is losing hope.
Some obstacles in life seem too hard to overcome. Betrayal definitely being one of them. With limited capital, and dwindling resources, he is attempting to resurrect his failing family vineyard, a self-imposed vow seemingly destined to fail. That is until a young woman enters his office with an outlandish, unexpected proposition impossible to refuse.
What begins as a temporary business arrangement, soon evolves into more as vivacious, spirited Kira challenges detached, arrogant Grayson to want more from life. To want more for himself. But as their wills clash and fiery passion ignites, they’ll realize that sometimes the past creates walls too difficult to climb, and that lies and deception rarely precede a happily every after.
As Kira and Grayson race toward their destiny, they will discover that some vows are meant to be broken, and others are worth risking everything for . . . even your very own heart.
Jen and Roxie’s Review
Everyone has a gift. Whether it’s drawing, singing, painting, being a good listener—it’s ike they have their calling and they go with it. They share their gifts with others and those around them get to appreciate those gifts. When Mia Sheridan writes a book, she shares her gift of words, her heart, her emotions all in one perfectly wrapped package.
Mia’s surprise announcement of her new book left us giddy with anticipation. When writing a Mia Sheridan review, we feel at times we are not able give her artistry justice. Grayson’s vow is almost magical –Mia’s writing takes you on a fairytale like adventure with a witch and a dragon, an unlikely pair in a land of make believe.
Kira is such a strong heroine. Her whole life, she struggled with living in the spotlight, living up to such high expectations. She is a free spirit with a heart of gold who loves coming up with big ideas. Her impulsiveness tends to get her in trouble. That is what we loved about her.
Grayson, God our hearts broke for him at times. He hasn’t had it easy. Time and time again he was let down by the ones he trusted, so his heart was guarded. Locked away …
While Kira’s and Grayson’s upbringings are very different, they both have been hurt by the ones that were supposed to love them unconditionally. Dire circumstances force them in each other’s paths and their lives together begin under false pretenses.
“Love is not always smooth and easy. Love can be piercing. Love means exposing yourself—all of yourself, every tender part—to being hurt. Because true love is not only the flower, true love is also the thorns.”
Napa as the setting of this beautiful romance, making this story whimsical and vibrant. You can almost smell the air fragmented with grapes, peaches and flowers. You can see the sunsets over the grape covered hills. You can almost taste Charlotte’s salted caramel pie.
As parts of this story unfolds piece by piece, we see Kira and Grayson healing their pain through their love that blossoms as they fight their attraction. There is a magnetic pull between them that can’t be resisted. But hurt runs deep and secrets can never be kept. As it all unravels, will they be left standing or swept away by pain and betrayal?
“There is always pain in this life. Not just for me, not just for you—for everyone. You can’t avoid it. And sometimes the pain is so great, it feels as if it carves out the very essence of who you are. But it doesn’t, not if you don’t allow it to. I t cares out a place in you, yes, but love is meant to fill that space. If you let it, pain makes more space for love within you. And the love we carry inside makes us strong when nothing else can.”
This love story was built in layers. A beautiful, slow burn. A touch here, a dimpled smile there. Mia Sheridan delivers another beautiful book to join the others in the Signs of Love Series.
