Life can change in the blink of an eye. One moment, Lily Preston is trapped in a loveless marriage. In a split second she is free, but at what cost? Her mundane life is set into a free fall of tragedy and terror. Her husband maybe out of her life, but he left a storm of collateral damage behind and the burden is on Lily to sort it out.
Fate connects Lily with Gavin Edwards, a charmingly handsome British gentleman that has been drawn into her tangled circumstance. Gavin is everything Lily’s husband wasn’t and gives her hope that love really does exist. Gavin wants nothing more than to sweep Lily up and carry her off into the sunset, far away from the devastation left behind by her husband. Gavin has been the first breath of fresh air in her life, but she isn’t looking to be saved. She needs to clean up her husband’s mess and find a way to save herself in the process.
Does she throw caution to the wind and open her heart? Or listen to her head that tells her and go it alone until she’s found herself again?
Lily is now a widow, her world is about to change like she would never have imagined. All she knows is how to be a housewife and a caregiver, she is a shell of her former self. She meets Gavin within minutes of finding out about her husbands demise. He is British (and of course his voice represented as much in my head!), a former underwear model, former military, and runs a huge company in England….he’s the whole package!
When all of this happens they are placed in FBI protection and will spend 24/7 with each other. Gavin seems to be able to lighten the mood and make Lily comfortable.
“I really don’t feel comfortable taking their rooms. They have been kind enough to let us stay here. I feel like it’s an intrusion. So, I made a fort. What do you think?”
How freaking adorable…and fun too! For days on end they talk, play games, and become more than just victims of a tragedy. Lily is a strong woman, she understands that she needs to heal but she can’t do it alone.
“A crazy twist of fate brought us together on this insane ride, and I’m not sure I can do it without you!”
Their comforting ways turns into so much more. Gavin and Lily are so attracted to each other, but is this the right time for it all? He is sooooooo smooth, a real gentleman….I was totally swooning over him!
“I make it about halfway to the elevator, when he grabs me and spins me around and plants a deep kiss on me. As we break, he winks and walks away, back on the phone. That man sure knows how to make a girl feel special.”
Lily’s life is turned upside down, twisted sideways, and flopped all around. She is determined to save herself and clean up the mess that her husband left behind. However, Gavin wants what Lily can’t give him right now. It was kind of frustrating because she wants him, badly, really badly, but she is so independent right now and she keeps pushing him away.
This doesn’t stop Gavin…he is persistent.
“Those five days with you were like a slice of heaven. I know it is warped because of why we were there. It’s twisted, but true. We had this instant and powerful connection.”
“I”m with you because I’m consumed with you…every moment of every day.”
Of course things can’t just fall into place, there is a twist. Horrible events that will change who they are and where they will end up. Bad guys and misunderstandings always seem to get in their way. I was on the edge of my seat waiting for it all to work out!
Fate is a wicked bitch.
“Life is an endless assault of curveballs. I mean look at us, the only reason we’re together is because your crazy crashed into my crazy.”
Be sure to meet Lily and Gavin, you won’t want to miss this story :)
