Despite her outgoing demeanor, Olivia is painfully insecure around the opposite sex—usually, she can’t get up the nerve to approach guys she’s interested in. But moving to Edinburgh has given her a new start, and, after she develops a crush on a sexy postgrad, she decides it’s time to push past her fears and go after what she wants.
Nate Sawyer is a gorgeous player who never commits, but to his close friends, he’s as loyal as they come. So when Olivia turns to him with her relationship woes, he offers to instruct her in the art of flirting and to help her become more sexually confident.
The friendly education in seduction soon grows into an intense and hot romance. But then Nate’s past and commitment issues rear their ugly heads, and Olivia is left broken-hearted. When Nate realizes he’s made the biggest mistake of his life, he will have to work harder than he ever has before to entice his best friend into falling back in love with him—or he may lose her forever…
Here we are again ladies. Samantha Young is back in action with Book 3 of her On Dublin Street Series. This is one of my favorite series by far. I could not wait to get my hands on Before Jamaica Lane to read and tell you all about what I thought. Did Samantha Young disappoint? Did she come through again with new and exciting characters that would rock our worlds? HELLS YEAH!!
The whole Dublin gang is freakin hot!! All the characters are appealing for different reasons. We all loved Joss and Braden. They will always hold a special place in my heart. And then came Jo and Cam. I wasn’t a fan of Jo in On Dublin Street but when I read Jo’s POV in Down London Road, I instantly fell in love how strong she was. I actually read that twice in a week! Yeah I know, I am a re read whore. Now we have Before Jamaica Lane which debuts Olivia and Nate. Another steaming hot couple. We get to meet Olivia and Nate a bit in Down London Road. So I was curious to see how Samantha would spin their story.
Olivia being an American, in her mid twenties, recently just relocated to Scotland with her Scottish father. Olivia has a sad story. She and her father moved to get over the death of her mother, like a fresh start. Liv’s father is like an uncle to Jo, so she is introduced to the whole Dublin crew. SWEET! They take her in like she’s one of the family. Enjoying Sunday dinner’s at the Carmichael’s, nights out at Club 39 with the crew, and sparking up a great friendship with Nate, Cam’s best friend.
AWWW Nate. Yes lets talk about Nate. I love Nate. You will all love Nate. He’s absolutely a hot Scot; dark hair, dimples you could just die for; he’s very sure of himself; sort of a ladies man. LOL!! Sorta??? Yeah way more than that. He can have and does have any woman he wants. That’s him, he doesn’t settle he just does his thing. Whatever, its fine. Doesn’t matter what he does on the outside because on the inside he’s adores Olivia. (Well he calls her Liv) They spend ALOT of time together at her apartment. They watch movies all the time, order in food, talk, laugh. Their friendship is so so easy. In just a few chapters you are hooked on them and it all comes together. Liv just thinks he’s to die for. She has such a crush on him, but she knows better. He’s a ladies man. She’ll take when she can get. He’s her best friend, simple as that.
One thing I love about a Samantha Young book, the story is never ever rushed. In just a few short chapters you get that feeling that you are completely satisfied that the story is well put together, all plots are solid, all the facts are well thought out. This book just started off right from chapter 1. I was fucking sold. And therefore this became a page turner for me easily.
Just because Nate’s a man-whore doesn’t mean you’re not gonna like him; you’re gonna LOVE him. He’s so caring and hot; and sexy; and his pores ooze of all things good and plenty. From his jeans and black boots to his dark gorgeous hair to his hot filthy fucking mouth. If I could be anything in my next life it would the lady parts of Liv! HOLLA!!
So when Olivia asks Nate, her best bud to help her to develop a better way to get a date, or flirt, he’s reluctant at first but eventually gives in. Olivia is seriously lacking in sexual confidence; she thinks she’s not attractive and needs some serious coaching in how to even talk to guys. In swoops Nate with all good things to say.
“Now,” Nate began, his voice all controlled and back to normal, “I’m a man, and as you know, I don’t say shit I don’t mean. So here’s what I see.”
“Great hair, stunning eyes, gorgeous skin, fucking knockout smile, greats tits, nice arse, and long, sexy legs. Fuckable. Very, very fuckable.”
Dude, really?? You had me at Fuckable. Now you tell me how this is a good idea for your HOT best friend to give you lessons on dating and sex when he thinks of you like this?
They promise to keep things separate and not let this “stuff” get in the way. Problem is, they are sooooo fucking good at it. They “FUCK” so much its not normal!! And its HOT!! The things he does to her; all the while teaching her, but so enjoying her lessons. (Well I enjoyed them) Now does this sound like a freakin lesson to you or what????
“You like that, Liv? he asked, his voice thick. “Like me sucking hard on your nipples?
I flushed at this crude question but found myself nodding quickly.
“Yes, I like it.”
He’s so easy with her, so tender, so willing to teach, and he loves it. She loves it. They love it together. Oh wait their friends, let’s come first, then order Chinese. Have fun with that!! Things can’t ever be the same after your best friend whose hot as fuck gives you orgasm after orgasm after orgasm. My god this book rocks!!
So much great dialog between these two.
Then it all happens….The lines get blurred and shit gets real.
“Stop playing dumb. You’ve been in this with me for the last six weeks! This wasn’t just a casual fuck, Nate. It’s me!”
Exhausted, I stumbled back from him. “You’re right, I did, I didn’t expect you to blur the lines, though. We blurred the lines. At least I can admit it. But if you admit it, you have to admit what a selfish bastard you’ve been, and I don’t think you’re going to do that.”
And there it is! When you mix business with pleasure. I’ll tell you, the majority of the book gave me such a great feeling. I was 100% on a serious high reading. Everything was great, my heart was full of all things that were hot and steamy! Then came that feeling, that feeling I HATE!! When your heart is being ripped out of your chest. Thanks Samantha! LOL!! Talk about fucking Angst!!
Nate and Olivia now have to deal with the reality of it. Their friendship is tested, pushed to the limits. They might just lose it all! Nate is willing to fight but Liv is one subborn woman. Rightfully so, she’s stands her ground.
I was just enamored by all the different ways this book could make me feel. Nate is, swoon worthy, sure thing!! But more than that, you just fall in love with him. He has his own demons in his closet and hidden away in his heart he needs to deal with. But he’s falling apart at the seams without his best friend. When can these two get their acts together?? Can they??? Can this friendship be saved by a man who is not willing to commit?
“It cut me to the quick to see you playing happy family with that guy. Christ, Liv, I couldn’t breathe.”
And I couldn’t do this. It wasn’t enough.
Shaking my head, I stepped to the side so he couldn’t back me into the corner. “Nate, you have to leave.”
Let me conclude by saying that this is one of my favorites, always a Samantha Young novel that will be a favorite of mine. This whole series blows me away. And of course she is going to follow up with yet again another great story line for our Dublin Street series!!
Before Jamaican Lane is truly a beautiful story of two best friends that fall in lust, fall in love with each other, body, mind and soul. It’s captivating.
I can’t wait to re read!! HOLLA!!!
