Exclusive Interview with E.L. Montes
Welcome to Schmexy Girl Book Blog! We are so happy to have you here with us, let’s get started!
1) What made you decide to abbreviate your name when publishing?
Well, it was difficult. I wanted to use my full name SO bad! But, when I wrote Disastrous no one knew I was writing except for my mother and husband. A lot of my co-workers read and follow blogs, I was afraid one of them would find out. I know, I know, like abbreviating the name would make a difference! I guess I was … embarrassed? I’m not sure if that’s the right word. I guess, more insecure. Which I still am. That’s just me, I’ll always be insecure. I guess, to answer your question, I was afraid to have someone that knew me read it and think it sucks and call me a loser. LOL. Yeah, I’m a dork.
You’re not a dork! I think many authors probably feel the same :)
2) Who do you envision as your Marcus DeLuca?
Okay, so originally when the “idea” of Marcus and Mia popped in my head, I thought of Amanda Seyfried as Mia and Jesse Metcalfe as Marcus. BUT the more I wrote their story, the more Marcus and Mia created a life & image of their own. The below two models are ones that are the closest to being my Marcus DeLuca
3) Are your schmexual scenes in Cautious or Disastrous based on an act you wish to perform, have performed or currently engaged in?
Hahaha! OMG! You have no idea how much I’m asked this question. Trust me I have never performed the “movie theater scene.” I’m too much of a chicken shit to do something like that. Would it be an adrenaline rush? Hell yeah! Heck, maybe if I’m drunk enough I’d have the guts to pull something like that off, but then it won’t be as neatly done as Marcus and Mia’s scene! LOL.
I LOVED the movie theater scene! It was intense and oh so schmexy!
4) I know that you work full time, how do you find the time to write??
You got me. SIGH. I write nights and weekends. I love to write and when I’m not writing I’m constantly thinking of my characters or new ideas for a new book. Or even particular scenes. Though, it’s difficult. Working full-time, family, friends and all of what comes with the writing world, it’s effing HARD. BUT I wouldn’t change it for the world. It never fails to amaze me, when I receive an email or message from a reader who just finished my book and tell me how much it impacted them. It feels amazing! I feel humble.
5) What is your favorite slang for penis in a book?
COCK COCK COCK! Though, I don’t say cock in real life! I never referred the penis to Cock. I refer it to a D**K, Weird, huh?
Nice, I noticed the use of cock ;)
6) Was it easy writing about lawyers being that you work around them all day?
I really didn’t get into detail about the legal aspect of Marcus’ career. I touched based on it here and there. I didn’t want it to be all about that. Though, I felt comfortable with the legal field which made it easy to choose that profession for him.
7) Last question… what is the last book you read?
Funny you asked, I didn’t read anything for months while writing Cautious. I used that to push me to keep going. LOL. But I finally, even after the release of Cautious, was able to sit down and enjoy an entire book without any disruptions. I received an ARC of “Fear of Falling” by S.L. Jennings, and it was so good. I mean, it brought a lot of emotions out of me. It’s scheduled to be released July 18, 2013. YOU HAVE TO READ IT! Blaine is SO hot!
Sounds good, I’ll have to check it out!
Well thank you so much for joining us! We hope you like the review of Cautious!

Marcus and Mia share a LOVE stronger than others, but their relationship was built on LIES and deceit.
Cautiously, they continue to struggle for what they desire more than anything, each other.
Though, that comes with a price … one that involves more HEARTBREAK and deception.
Can they survive another disastrous path?
Is their love strong enough to defeat all the obstacles, all of the BETRAYAL?
Not all broken relationships are repairable, but Marcus and Mia try their hardest to fight for themselves and for each other.
“I’m yours Marcus. You just have to take me.”
They agree that there will be no more lies and no more secrets. They begin to open up to each other in ways they never did before. Mia makes a bet with Marcus that he doesn’t know her personally and let’s just say that it was a LONG 2 weeks post bet for Mr. DeLuca! While the lovers are working out the chinks in their relationship they are also dealing with personal issues on their own. I loved that they each were learning to also spend time apart, as hard as it was for them. Mia is still in school and struggling because of the time she is now devoting to Marcus. Then we have Marcus who is still trying to find a way out of his mobster lifestyle so that he can give Mia the life he envisions for them. We can see how happy they are and how tortured they are at the same time.
Through all of this we of course are blessed with the schmexy scenes. Since it was mentioned in the interview….here is a snippet from the movie theater scene, enjoy!
“His skillful fingers continued working on me, his thumb rubbing over my clit, as he leaned down and ran his tongue along my neck, towards my earlobe, sucking it in. I turned my chin, catching his mouth, and his tongue twirled, sucking along mine. My breathing became heavier as I became aroused. It was as if he knew my body better than I did. His finger thrust and pounced faster and harder into me.”
I think that’s enough for now…you know where to find the rest ;)
E.L. Montes weaves a story of love, deceit, schmex, and fighting for what you want. I was heartbroken towards the end of the story, I couldn’t believe what I was reading. I’m not going to give anything away (you know me, no spoilers) but WOW! What a way to end this story!
