I met Sarah Kate Erickson when I was twenty-one years old. I was lucky enough to keep her for seven years before a tragic accident stole her from me. She didn’t die, but sometimes I think it would have been easier if she had.
I lived in a haze for those four years after the accident. Catering to her every need, even though she hated the very sight of my face. I tried to hold on to her and the future that we were supposed to build together. But you can’t hold on to someone that doesn’t exist anymore.
It wasn’t until I met Jesse Addison, a barista at the local coffee shop, that I realized I didn’t just lose Sarah that tragic night, I lost myself as well. Jesse taught me how to let go of the past and learn to love again. But what happens when your past haunts your present and the woman you used to love refuses to accept the woman you can’t live without?
**Intended for readers 18+. Each book in this series can be read as a standalone.**

Imagine being in love with whom you believe to be your soulmate—the very person you are thrilled to spend the rest of your life with, only to one day lose that very person. Not through death, but through a tragedy that changes that person into someone unrecognizable.
“She was more than my everything, Sarah was my forever.”
He and his best friend Caleb are police officers, partners in crime both at work and in life. Caleb is engaged to Manda, who is Sarah’s best friend. They spend lots of time together doing dinners, going to bars and just having fun. One tragic night, both Brett and Caleb face their worst nightmare. A horrific, tragic accident changes the course of both their lives.
Brett is devastated. Although Sarah survives the accident, she’s not the person he once knew. Sarah holds nothing but hate for him, yet he is incapable of moving on. He still visits Sarah and he can’t seem to let go.
Until he meets Jesse, a waitress in a local coffee shop. He seems to just show up on the days she’s working and there is an immediate attraction between the two. She thinks he’s beautiful, and she can’t believe he would entertain someone as plain as her. Little does she know, he thinks she’s gorgeous and his attraction is just as strong. She works up the nerve and asks him on a date. He reluctantly accepts.
“Something beyond my control draws me to you. You make me feel alive again, and as selfish as it sounds, I will do absolutely anything to hold on to that.”
We travel on with Brett and Jesse and watch as they become closer and closer. God, I love him. He is just incredible.
“I don’t know what I can give you.” He leans forward, placing a soft kiss to my temple. “I want to be with you. I want to spend time with you. I want to get to know you and if I’m being honest, I want to touch every inch of your body with every inch of mine”
Their feelings for each other deepen, even though Brett is still tied to Sarah, Jesse accepts that and agrees to move forward in their relationship. Sarah, however, is not happy with this arrangement. She begins to meddle and starts a shitload of craziness!
Changing Course was just an incredible tale of love, loss, heartache and finding your way home. I was glued, engrossed, in love with this story. I loved Brett, Jesse, Caleb and Kara. Aly Martinez pulled me into her fantastic book and I couldn’t put it down. I cannot wait to read more from her!!!
