Two years ago, I, Maxwell Newman fell in love and lost it as soon as I recognized it. She disappeared out of my life just like the fires that I smother when called upon as a lieutenant of the Austin Fire Department. I’m a man that has always gotten what he wanted when I wanted it.
But not this time…How was I going to live without the one thing I wanted so badly?
Two years ago, I, Sadie Wilson lost the only man I had ever loved although I didn’t realize it. I push any person away just like I have every other thing in my life that wanted something more from me than a good time. Now, I am scarred by the pain that lives in my heart. I’m successful at everything I do, except love. I’ve never wanted love, until him and now it’s too late.
How is it possible to move on from the one that you love tremendously from every part of your being?
Or can you?
Coldhearted by Brooklyn Taylor is a story of love and loss. We follow Sadie and Maxwell over the course of two years. We learn how they meet and how they part.
Max is the sexy fireman, typical love ’em and leave ’em until Sadie comes along. He finds something he never knew he was looking for and then POOF it’s gone. I was heartbroken for him, he really seemed like a great guy.
“I’m like a lost soul looking for a manual on marriage, on love, on life.”
Sadie is an independent woman who fits Maxwell’s personality to a T, love em and leave em and just have fun. When things changed, she bounced. I really didn’t like her from the start, there is confident and then there is conceited and I really felt she was in the latter category.
“Some women are boy with the self-esteem gone, but well, I’m not that person.”
“I am a strong independent stubborn-ass woman, and that is never going to change.”
The story shows us how both of them move on but still think of each other. One of them makes some big changes and the other tries. I was torn with who I felt bad for and who I sided with throughout the book. I wished for them to be happy, no matter what that meant. I didn’t expect things to take the turn that they did and was surprised by the outcome! I think you will be too!!
