All’s fair in love and work. The first standalone romance by New York Times and #1 international bestselling author Christina Lauren (Beautiful Bastard) is a sexy, compulsively readable romantic comedy that dives headlong into the thrill and doubt of modern love.
Despite the odds against them from an embarrassing meet-awkward at a mutual friend’s Halloween party, Carter and Evie immediately hit it off. Even the realization that they’re both high-powered agents at competing firms in Hollywood isn’t enough to squash the fire.
But when their two agencies merge—causing the pair to vie for the same position—all bets are off. What could have been a beautiful, blossoming romance turns into an all-out war of sabotage. Carter and Evie are both thirtysomething professionals—so why can’t they act like it?
Can Carter stop trying to please everyone and see how their mutual boss is really playing the game? Can Evie put aside her competitive nature long enough to figure out what she really wants in life? Can their actor clients just be something close to human? Whether these two Hollywood love/hatebirds get the storybook Hollywood ending or just a dramedy of epic proportions, you will get to enjoy Christina Lauren’s heartfelt, raucous, and hilarious romance style at its finest.
Jen and Roxie’s Review
Dating in Los Angeles… sounds like a nightmare come true. All the guys are either douchebags, taken or gay. Definitely not the scene for a young thirty something single woman lost in the sea of Botox and plastic barbies.
Meet Evie, beautiful, smart and successful, but just hasn’t found the “one”. She is married to her job, so even if Mr. Right came along, she’d have very little time for him in her life.
“…let me remind you that I am no longer in my twenties, and when you meet men at my age you immediately place them on one of three lists, just to make life easier for everyone: datable, not datable, or gay.”
Carter is a transplant from New York, a few years younger than Evie and very successful. Oh and HOT… can’t forget to mention that!
They meet at a Halloween party and sparks fly. They seem to be the perfect match. Until… well until the shit hits the fan and they wind up working at the same agency competing for the same job!! #FacePalm
What follows is a disaster of epic proportions. Christina Lauren takes their new standalone novel to great heights as you wonder how these two can get over the clusterfuck that transpires.
