I thought our love was infinite, unbreakable.
After six years together, butterflies would still take flight in my stomach every time he walked into a room. With just one smile I was putty in his hands. He promised me forever with every touch of his lips. Too late, I realized that I was being kept in an illusion made of glass; only to have him smash it apart and disappear before he could see it shatter around me in perfect ruins.
With a tiny life held in the palm of my hands, I’m haunted by the man who abandoned us.
And then there was him.
Immersing himself within the dust and debris as I was slowly opening my eyes to this new reality. He says he wants forever, but how can I believe him when love lies and forevers don’t truly exist.
Elapse starts of with some heartbreak, what a way to set the mood and make me sad right from the start. But this is me so I knew that I would be ok and enjoy what was ahead of me. Liv is quite a special girl, I liked her and empathized with her from the beginning. Throughout the book I kept cheering her on and waiting to see how she would handle everything that gets tossed at her. As insecure as she constantly was she was also equally as strong through her ordeal. The people in her life (old and new friends) are so compassionate and caring, she really had a great support system.
Which brings me to Sebastian, aka Seb. He’s just…well, WOW. He comes quickly into Liv’s life and becomes somewhat of a permanent fixture there fairly quickly. On top of being hot, he’s an EMT (I’m married to one so I approve of this already!) and he is sweet. Always popping in or showing up unexpectedly, but not in an obnoxious way.
His presence is becoming somewhat of an addiction. It used to soothe the ache that someone else left me with, but now, he’s somehow got me searching him out in a room full of people like I need a fix.
The slow build from friendship to more between Liv and Seb was well done. I was left satisfied but always still wanting more. I think they basically felt the same ;) Nothing seems to stand in their way, Seb takes on more than he has to but it works. The flow of their lives is so seamless, the day to day is real life. Jobs, shopping, baby… It’s not long before Liv is finally getting the swing of things and moving on.
Heartache and misplaced hope both have an expiration date, and that day has arrived.
And then….well, I can’t say much more but I will say that I am looking forward to the release of Erase – coming May 28th!!!!!
