The first time I met Chase Parker, I didn’t exactly make a good impression.
I was hiding in the bathroom hallway of a restaurant, leaving a message for my best friend to save me from my awful date.
He overheard and told me I was a bitch, then proceeded to offer me some dating advice.
So I told him to mind his own damn business—his own tall, gorgeous, full-of-himself damn business—and went back to my miserable date.
When he walked by my table, he smirked, and I watched his arrogant, sexy ass walk back to his date.
I couldn’t help but sneak hidden glances at the condescending jerk on the other side of the room. Of course, he caught me on more than one occasion, and winked.
When the gorgeous stranger and his equally hot date suddenly appeared at our table, I thought he was going to rat me out.
But instead, he pretended we knew each other and joined us—telling elaborate, embarrassing stories about our fake childhood.
My date suddenly went from boring to bizarrely exciting.
When it was over and we parted ways, I thought about him more than I would ever admit, even though I knew I’d never see him again.
I mean, what were the chances I’d run into him again in a city with eight million people?
What were the chances a month later he’d wind up being my new sexy boss?
When it comes to reading a Vi Keeland book I’m always ready and never disappointed. Bossman was no different….started and finished in the same day because I just couldn’t walk away from it.
Reese is a career driven woman looking to make a change and avoid making the same mistake she made in the past. I love how fun she was, and her love of wine of course ;)
“Exercising?” “Yeah it helps to get stress out.” “So does wine.” “Yes but with exercise you feel great the day after.” “But with wine, I don’t remember the day before.”
The way they met was hilarious and really made me love them both from the beginning. It was fun watching her try to resist Chase. She couldn’t stop thinking of him, like EVER. And things just sort of happen between them.
Chase leaned over to me as we continued walking down the hall and whispered, “Stop worrying. Harassment policy only applies to employees, not the owner. Checked this morning.”
Reese is afraid of things in her life and her past, but she has it under control. I was really amazed at how she handles her past and has a routine to help get her through, I can totally appreciate that! She’s open about it when she can be and isn’t embarrassed by it, at least not from what I can see.
Chase is also a very career driven person. He’s intelligent, self made and determined….in business and love. He could be challenging at times but there was such a sensitive balance to his alpha personality it really is hard to resist him, I’m right there with you Reese!!
There was just something about Chase….I can’t really say much because I don’t want to ruin anything but he’s a different kind of guy than I’m used to reading about. He opens up fairly easily and Reese is so patient with him. He doubts himself so much at times but Reese is so good for him.
Bossman was in a way a breath of fresh air. It was what we like to call “mature angst”. The characters are grown ups and act like it while still having fun and being playful…and sexy, let’s not forget SEXY *fans self*
“I’m tired of looking back. It’s been a long time since I’ve wanted to live in the moment.”
Is living in the moment going to be enough when mysteries from the past are revealed? Everything they worked for will be challenged and you will want to cry, and hug them, and try and figure it all out. This book took a turn I wasn’t expecting. It was written in a unique way to help you discover things along the way. Well done Vi! I’ll be thinking of Reese and Chase for quite some time!
