What would you do if you knew when you were going to die? Would you will death to come and claim you quickly? Or would you pray for more time?
It wasn’t until I knew that I was about to die, that I decided to really live. And it wasn’t until I gave up on love, that I finally found it. Just not in any of the places that I’d been searching.
Sometimes you don’t get the fairytale happily ever after, but if you’re lucky, you get so much more. You get a perfect beginning that you can keep hold of until the end.
Empty Promises is a beautiful prequel to the Promises Series by Elle Brooks. It can be read as a stand alone and is a great companion to the other stories. This will be a tear jerker, I’m not going to lie. Just read the synopsis, you get an idea of what is going to happen but be prepared, have tissues and wine at the ready!
Emily is dying. Plain and simple her time is running out. She’s a high school student who is going to miss out on some of the best times of her life because of her illness.
“My newfound get up and go, got up and fucking went. I’m not a huge cusser, but…FUCK, FUCK, FUCKETY-FUCK!”
Luckily she has great friends that are always there for her. This friendship is so special it made me hope that I will have a friend like this when I need it the most.
“I love how fiercely she loves me. I can’t think of a single thing she wouldn’t do for me if I asked; friends like Blair are so rare.”
Emily is truly an amazing young lady. She is on this journey, trying to fulfill things on her secret “bucket list”. She just wants to experience everything that she may never get to….especially falling in love!
“Nothing interrupts the tranquility until his hand moves slowly under our blankets, in search of mine. He laces our fingers together and it’s possibly the simplest and most intimate moment I’ve ever shared.”
A new boy enters her life and is determined to make Emily fall in love with him. He wants to break down her walls and give her possibly one of the most important experiences we can ever be a part of. With her time running out is this possible?
This book makes you feel like you are there with Emily, by her side as you read her journal entries. What will she experience, what will she miss out on? Her journey will make you laugh and cry and cherish every moment as if it were your last.
