I wasn’t planning on falling for Ethan Jamison, hell I wasn’t planning on our paths ever crossing. He’s the most popular guy at school and a complete player. Me; I’m the perpetual good girl, trying to carry out one last request. But when you make a promise, how far do you go to see it through?
It’s a running joke that I’m a terrible liar, if only people knew the truth. My whole life has been spent making excuses and deflecting questions. I was pretty good at it until Blair Thomas entered my world. She saw through the mask that everyone is so willing to accept. She makes me want to tell her all my secrets, but can she promise to keep them?
Promises Hurt….well yes they do, and they will make you cry (there…you’ve been warned).
Blair is a nerd and proud of it, her black rimmed hipster glasses and quirky shirts are who she is. She is quiet but she is fierce, she stands up for herself and has a quick wit. Blair has made a silent promise to her best friend, however, what she doesn’t know is that this promise will change her life more than she ever knew possible. Enter Ethan Jamison…
“You wanna get your notes out and we can go through anything you didn’t understand in class?”
“Sure,” I say, but the only thing I don’t understand at the moment is how I haven’t noticed this girl until now.
Ethan is an all around AMAZING guy! He is musically talented and is an athlete as well (so his body is pretty hot too!!!). He is known for being a player but that’s not who is really is, not who he wants to be. One small girl (that he initially nicknames Tutor Nerd) will rock his world and change his views on life.
“She’s going to want answers when she wakes up. I don’t know if I can give them to her. But for the first time in my life, I want to. I want to tell this girl everything. I want this girl, period.”
Blair and Ethan begin this easy comfortable relationship. I don’t think either of them expected the bond that they would have or the need they would feel toward one another. I melted more and more the closer they came to one another.
Blair Thomas could destroy me, but somehow I know she won’t.
…she’s a piece of me that I never knew was missing. She completes me, makes me feel whole.
“I only ever want to be where you are,” I tell her, and it’s the truth. She doesn’t know it, but she brings me a peace I never knew existed.
I think every girl should have her own Ethan. Not only is he a sweetheart but he’s kind of goofy in his own special way when it comes to Blair.
~E~ “You’re a dork.”
~B~ “You’re an asshole.”
~E~ “You’re kind of perfect.”
And there he goes again, killing me with his surprise sweetness. I let out a sigh.
~B~ “You’re forgiven.”
Their story is not all hearts and flowers. Though they are still in high school the lives that they have led have not been the easiest. Promises have been made but can these same promises be kept without them being torn apart?
I DEVOURED this book….the story was amazing, flowed well, had loveable characters, I could go on and on. Ethan and Blair have a young relationship that I would be proud to see my daughters have one day. The emotions, the trust, the compassion….
You’re like this amazingly beautiful blinding light that has drawn me out of my own darkness.
This is a book that you do not want to miss out on! Elle Brooks….A+++++ for a job SUPER well done!!
About the Author
I’m a little neurotic; I function on a tiny amount of sleep and a huge amount of caffeine. I love green skittles and have an irrational fear of stormy weather. When I’m not writing about super hot college guys, you can generally find me googling them…All in the name of research of course. I can be persuaded to do just about anything with the promise of a good book or a bottle of bubbles. Oh, and I also love to write.
