With Congressman Brady Maxwell up for reelection and journalist Liz Dougherty about to graduate into a promising career, the ambitious couple’s future is brighter than ever. They share a passion for their work…and for each other. But when Brady holds a press conference to officially introduce Liz as his girlfriend, reporters hungry for a scandal bombard her. Now, her every move is under a vicious magnifying glass, and her life feels like it’s falling apart.
On the road to reelection, the passionate bond between the congressman and the journalist gets tested at every stop. Threatened by shameless media sensationalism and jealous exes, Brady and Liz now have to learn to trust each other despite what they read in the papers.
In the finale to USA Today bestselling author K.A. Linde’s sexy Record trilogy, Liz and Brady may be setting off fireworks along the campaign trail, but can their love transcend politics as usual?
I’m struggling with where to start….I don’t want to write this review because it is the end of the series. No more Brady and Liz, if I write this then it’s over. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series from page 1 of Off the Record to the very last word in For the Record. I cried happy tears when I finished!!
It was nice to pick up right where we left off at the end of On the Record. Brady and Liz are together and they will come out to the public. This is it, it’s actually happening. Brady melts my heart over and over throughout this whole book.
She spared him a bright smile. “I seem to be a game changer.”
“Understatement. You’re more that the game changer. You’re the game and the team and the league and the whole universe of sports wrapped up into one neat little package.”
I loved Liz even more this time around….she kinda bugged me the last time, she was too mopey. I guess I would be too if I didn’t have Brady in my life…wait, I don’t have him…now I’m sad! Liz puts up with so much crap all around, she proved just how strong she could be…even when Heather speaks to her like this:
“You -” she said as if she couldn’t even fathom why she was still talking to Liz, “you are just a sideline display. Nothing more than a phase. Just try not to screw up while you’re still around.”
I felt bad when Liz doubted herself and their relationship. She is this bright, ambitious, caring young woman who gives up things in her life for the man she loves. Brady is her whole life, all consuming each and every day.
It was with a heavy heart that she realized this pressroom might never be her future, because she was staring at what would be.
Victoria (you know her, the sassy BFF/roomie, hot with an attitude and ummmm, a healthy sexual appetite shall we say LOL) gives Liz this little bit of advice and it says so much. This is just what I would have said to Liz.
“You had to fight to get him and you’re going to have to fight to keep him. The lowest lows bring the highest highs. And when you find someone who brings you both, that doesn’t mean you should walk away; it means you have something special.”
None of this has been easy. From the beginning there have always been struggles and obstacles and this time it is no different. We get more Hayden (grrrrrrrr) and some unexpected troubles along the way. K.A. Linde has certainly done an excellent job keeping us on our toes, biting our nails, screaming at and/or hugging our kindles. Brady and Liz’s love is something that only happens once in a lifetime and I was glad to share this journey with them!!
