Sometimes the things we shouldn’t want become exactly what we need…
Waitressing at a seedy strip club isn’t ideal, but it pays Sarah Adamson’s tuition. Her goal is to finish her master’s program and get a job that doesn’t involve tight skirts and groping hands. She doesn’t need distractions. Especially not the one that comes in the form of a hot-as-sin tattoo artist who works across the street from her apartment.
Kicked out at sixteen, and a high school dropout, Chris Zelter is familiar with wanting things he can’t have. His fractured life has never been easy. As the product of someone else’s bad decisions, he knows exactly what happens when the wrong person controls your marionette strings. Now an accomplished tattoo artist in a renowned studio in Chicago, Chris has it together.
Apart from his infatuation with Sarah. She’s way out of his league, and Chris knows it.
But he’s willing to be her bad decision. At least for now.
I’ve been waiting for Chris and Sarah’s story for almost 2 years!! The Clipped Wing series is one of my absolute favorites and Fractures in Ink was sooooo worth the wait!!
You may only know Helena Hunting from her funny and sexy Pucked series. I have to say these books are so different from Pucked and you are missing out if you haven’t picked them up yet!!
They are heavy and emotional. Filled with sadness and angst. The story will take you apart and slowly put you back together again piece by piece. While Fractures in Ink can absolutely be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading The Clipped Wing series books too.
Chris and Sarah are both damaged and unwilling to open up for each other. Giving their relationship just some bits and pieces to keep it going, but never enough to be hurt or vulnerable.
“Let’s wash away everyone else’s sins so we can commit our own.”
But as they start falling deeper, it gets harder to keep things buried.
Their reasons are so different yet both are heartbreaking in their own way.
There is certain melancholy through out the whole book, as they go back and forth. Hiding themselves while trying to open up. They’re both trying to protect each other desperately from their own pasts and the baggage they carry.
But sometimes you need to hurt and bleed and let others see it before you can fully love and give. To finally be happy…
“We’re all broken, Sarah. It’s not always about fixing the parts that don’t work; it’s about making the most of the ones that do.”
We get to catch up with the whole gang.
This book was everything I hoped for and so much more!!! I love these characters and I’m not sure how to let them go. I want more and more and more!!!
They all flawed in their on way, but together they are truly perfection.
