Our marriage wasn’t just in trouble—mere threads were all that held it together.
What was once my perfect happily ever after had dissolved right before my eyes.
I can tell you when it started to happen.
What I can’t tell you is why.
And after seven months of watching my husband turn into someone I didn’t recognize, I’d given up hope in finding answers.
So I decided to break his heart
… and he did nothing to stop me.
Frayed Silk by Ella Fields is a storyline that I did not see coming. I will tell you that there is some cheating but please DO NOT let that deter you, it is pivotal to the story of Dahlia and Leo.
Where can I begin….marriage, wonderful children, wealth. It seemed like Dahlia had it all, until her marriage was slipping through her fingers. You could feel her frustration as she tries to connect with her husband Leo, find out what’s wrong, and get some part of him back.
He’s my husband, yet it doesn’t feel like I’m allowed to have him anymore.
I was frustrated right alongside her, I was scheming what I thought his problem was, why was he so distant, why won’t he giver her what she needs, what she wants?? The list was a long one but NEVER did I see what would eventually come.
Dahlia seeks out the comfort she needs, the attention that she wants and let me tell you, I liked her choice. Jared was younger than her and oh my god sexy…he was even a bit of a softie when it came to Dahlia, aka “Blondie”
“I know you’re married. I saw it with my own two eyes. But I can’t….you’re kind of all I think about, Dahlia.”
Through this all Dahlia only thinks of Leo, what they had and what she wants back. She doesn’t ever stop loving him at all, if anything she loves him harder as her guilt gets to her. Dahlia puts on a front for her friends, only speaking to her closest friend about what is going on. Lola is such a good friend and giver of great advice, she tries to help Dahlia think straight and be smart.
As I drive home, I realize that maybe we’re all a little broken. Some of us are just better at hiding the missing pieces.
Once things fall into place you won’t believe it. It was a shocker!!! Wish I could say more, but ya know – no spoilers on this page ;) I will say that I wish there had been a little more angst or another WTF moment in the back half of the book….I waited for another encounter or explosion and it never came. It sure kept me on the edge of my seat though!!!!
If someone had told me a year ago that I’d be here, that this would be what became of my life, I’d think they were fucking nuts.
