First, he saved me.
I lived because he was a hero.
And then he was gone.
Uprooted by the fire that destroyed our home, my family moved away and I never saw David Andrews again.
Then, he found me.
Eighteen years later, he rescued me again – in much simpler terms, of course. By loving me, by giving me the fairy tale I’d always hoped for, he provided me with the perfect life.
Now, he needs to be saved.
It’s my turn to be strong, to be brave, to be valiant.
When flames threaten to turn us to ashes, it’s up to me to pull us From the Wreckage.
Let me start by saying that one of the main things (of MANY) that I LOVE about Melissa Collins’ writing style is how she depicts real life people and situations. Her characters are your neighbors or your best friends, they are down to earth and relatable, who wouldn’t love a hot teacher and a hot firefighter! This DEFINITELY showed in From the Wreckage.
“The need to see her again is like the flames I just fought. Ravenous.” (Melissa’s Teaser)
The history between Grace and David, the connection from their childhood, made their relationship seem so easy to me. They just seemed to fit so well together right from the start.
“You fit perfectly here,” I whisper into her auburn locks. “I’ll prove it to you. In more ways than just sex. I’ll make you see how I see you.”
Even how they view each other is perfect! They are playful and sarcastic with each other (makes me think of me and my husband – who was a firefighter when we met as I finished up my teaching degree ;) )
“Hold on a second while I get my ovaries to function again. Hot, firefighter David, who takes care of his parents, also donates his time to raising money for underprivileged school. Oh, and did I mention he was hot. Like ridiculously so?”
“She’s unapologetically nerdy, painfully sarcastic, and naturally beautiful.”
I couldn’t put From the Wreckage down, I had to keep watching them and learning all about them, I wanted to be them. Of course every story has its ups and downs, this is no different. I almost didn’t go on at one point (that’s when I began messaging Melissa, by heart was hurting and I just didn’t know what to do!) Melissa gives us such unique love, strong bonds and amazing characters. You will want to just live in their world and experience it all with them!
About the Author
Melissa Collins has always been a book worm. Studying Literature in college ensured that her nose was always stuck in a book. She followed her passion for reading to the most logical career choice: English teacher. Her hope was to share her passion for reading and the escapism of books to her students. Having spent more than a decade in front of a classroom, she can easily say that it’s been a dream.
Her passion for writing didn’t start until more recently. When she was home on maternity leave in early 2012, she read her first romance novel and her head filled with the passion, angst and laughter of the characters who she read about it. It wasn’t long before characters of her own took shape in her mind. Their lives took over Melissa’s brain and The Love Series was born.
