A man and a woman, living vastly different lives, but that wasn’t always the case. Once, they were just a boy and a girl who bonded over comic books and fell in love unexpectedly.
When Kennedy Garfield met Jonathan Cunningham back in high school, she knew he had all the makings of a tragic hero. With stars in his eyes, and her heart on her sleeve, the pair ran away together to follow their dreams.
But dreams, sometimes, turn into nightmares.
Now, years later, the only thing they share is a daughter—one who has no idea her father plays her favorite superhero. But Jonathan is desperate to make amends, and at the top of his list is the woman who gave up everything for him and the little girl he hasn’t yet met.

“Crack. Crack. Crack.”
That’s the sound your heart makes when it’s broken. Shredded, torn, obliterated. Love can lift you up, the highest of highs, and during the lowest of times, it can make you feel as if you’re in a dark hole and you have no idea how to crawl your way out of it.
“Crack. Crack. Crack.”
The sound of our hearts torn in two as we read J.M. Darhower’s latest release, Ghosted. By far one of our top reads this year, we were mesmerized with Jonathan and Kennedy in this second-chance romance.
“I hate it all and for good reason—there are too many skeletons in my closet, too many secrets I’ve been concealing. Too many things I can’t let them taint in a world so pure that I’m no longer welcome in it.”
Having read most of J.M.’s books, we dove into this book without even reading the blurb. She’s a Schmexy favorite, and we now have another book she written to add to our ever growing list.
With her brilliant writing style and the tale she weaves, you’ll be glued to your kindle until the very last page.
“Once upon a time, I believed everything that flowed from this man’s lips, but it’s hard to give his words weight after what we went through.”
Jonathan and Kennedy are by far two of our most beloved characters. Jonathan is flawed, made so many mistakes, but his heart is solid gold and we watch him grow so much as a person. Kennedy is fierce, passionate and loving. She had her heart broken by the only man she ever loved, but through it all she powered on. From the start, the two of them faced many obstacles, and made decisions that impacted the future. From the very first page you can feel the pain, the hurt, the unspoken past that is revealed layer by layer as their story unfolds.
This story was a perfectly executed emotional ride. A flawed hero, a strong heroine and a love that only comes around once in a life time. J.M. took is on a journey and gave us a rainbow spectrum of feels. We cried, we laughed, we fell in love with a story about second chances, first loves, family and everything in between. It’s a book that we couldn’t stop and literally read in one sitting but while reading it we never wanted to end!!! Still days later we keep thinking about with a satisfied smile on our faces!!
