Gabrielle Boudreaux, the youngest of the Boudreaux clan, is a single mother of her young son, Sam. Running a Bed and Breakfast at the family plantation house at the edge of the Mississippi River, Gabby loves her inn, her boy and her family. She meets new people every day, and takes pride in the house and land that has been in her family for more than five generations. Blessed beyond measure, she’s also lonely, although she would never admit that to anyone. Until Rhys O’Shaughnessy walks through her door, brooding and wounded and the sexiest thing she’s ever laid eyes on.
Rhys has been at the top of his game as a major league pitcher for the Chicago Cubs for more than ten years. Baseball is in his blood. But when he tears his rotator cuff and has to sit a season out, he retreats to Inn Boudreaux at the recommendation of his cousin, Kate, to heal and work toward building his shoulder back to perfect shape with only one goal in mind: to return to the game he loves. But he didn’t plan on being utterly charmed by a devastatingly beautiful woman and her baseball-loving son.
When Rhys’ shoulder has healed and he’s given the chance to return to his team, will he leave the family he’s come to love behind, or will he stay with Gabby and Sam?
“I feel like I’ve known you a long time. This might sound silly, but I feel like your heart and my heart are very old friends.” ~ Rhys
Easy Charm is the second of the Boudreaux series. This story follows Gabby Boudreaux, the youngest sibling of the Boudreaux clan. She is also a single mother to the most adorable Sam, lover of baseball. You really can’t help but love this family, and their tight nit bond. The way the whole Boudreaux rallied behind Gabby when she was younger, and helped her raise this boy, alone, says something. Gabby runs the family Bed and Breakfast in New Orleans, which I LOVE!! Kristen, as always, is very descriptive and makes me feel right at home; like I was living at Forrest Gump’s big old white house with a porch swing. Talk about Charm.
Let me start by saying the Prologue was just maddening. You get a nice glimpse into Gabby’s start and let me say, I was ready to snap necks. Of course Proby wants to rip my heart out from the start.
But thankfully the book starts off on a positive note. And my first reaction is, I love this kid. Sam, Gabby’s son is the heart of this story in my eyes. He’s sharp, and funny and smart. And is such a good southern boy. Gabby is a lucky girl. Everything about this story resonated with me. Gabby is a hard working, young, single mother, who does nothing but care for this boy and run the Inn, never taking a break. Ever. Immediately you see this woman is a dedicated single mom and I LOVE her to pieces.
I am a HUGE Gabby fan. She’s the kind of heroine you can love and respect. Gabby is hardened though, independent, proud as fuck.
So when Rhys blasts into this book it shakes her world. An injured professional baseball player, (Kate’s cousin) comes to stay at the Inn to recoup. Rhys is a great addition to Proby’s Men of Gold. The caring, want to take care of your woman and be a gentleman, all too educated and HOT as fuck Hero. We love those. Rhys falls for Gabby, head over heals. And best yet, for Sam. So yeah, this book is a great FEEL Good story because you want everybody happy in the end. Not to mention is hot as fuck mouth…Kristen always makes me blush when I read her sexy scenes! She drives me bananas!!
“Your lips are swollen,” he say as he kisses down my neck. “And your clit is coming out to play.”
Of course I enjoyed the Gabby/Rhys love affair! BUT BUT…let’s me stop a minute a talk about some other aspects of the story I fucking LOVED!!!!!
Because this story takes place in New Orleans, there is room for history to be told. I’m not sure if other readers or fans appreciated these parts of this story, but she throws in pieces of history here and there. Talking about the history of the family’s bed and breakfast, and the old slaves quarters, and the story of the girl on the cliff. Kristen just gave this series the real “New Orleans feel”. The “Southern” feel. Not surprised Proby puts her own stamp on this series, as she did with With Me in Seattle.
And as if she didn’t have enough room for more story lines, through her clever dialog, she manages to always make me love the secondary just as much as the main characters. Like Beau!! He came out of no where and turned me on with his mouth. These Boudreaux brothers are hot as hell!! And protective.
Let me sum up….I could go on and on about this book. I fucking LOVED it! The protectiveness that not only Rhys shows Gabby but her family. Every damn sibling in this book gets enough TV time. I fell hard for Rhys and Gabby and Sam. The love making in this book is unreal. Kristen sets up soo many stories for us in Easy Charm, which makes me look forward the rest of this series!!
Can I give 6 stars??? I can definitely give 6 HOLLAS if I want that’s for sure!!! If you didn’t read this, and my review totally SOLD you, then buy it!! Buy Easy LOVE, and then read Easy CHARM!!
