My story started out cliche: good girl falls for bad boy. One wrong move changed all that; turns out the good girl doesn’t save the bad boy. My story goes from cliche to risque to mind blowing. My story is different from all the others because the events of my story led me to one thing…my objective.
Remembering him comes in dreams and flashbacks that I can’t control. I tell myself it’s time to let go…but moving on from him is impossible when I still see our lives in my head.
When you kill your soul mate you don’t ever really recover.
A year of trying to forget, or rather move past it, has taught me that you can’t. It’s an impossibility to move on from that kind of horrific form of betrayal. If you’re too selfish or scared for suicide like me, you learn to wake up every morning and follow routine. One foot in front of the other, day after day.
Hollow. Lifeless. Haunted. Loving him was like the sun on a summer day. Living without him is like slowly burning to death. Torture.
A Bloodlines Novel.
*Note: While Tug of War is the 1st in the Bloodlines books, each book can be read as a standalone book.*
Objective is the second book in the Bloodlines series by K. Larsen and can be read as a stand alone. Although, you know me, I like to start from the beginning, it gives you a better sense of certain situations.
This story is about Cypress and Magnolia, two names, one person. Cypress flees her life as she knows it, believing things that may or may not be true. She starts over and becomes Magnolia.
As she begins her new life she is a shadow of the girl she once was. She needs to learn to adapt and be prepared. Magnolia tries to forget her past and move on yet she is haunted by dreams and flashbacks of her former life with her soul mate Cane.
“Every touch, every word that came from Cane set my soul on fire. I felt like he was my missing puzzle piece.”
Magnolia drinks to escape. She doesn’t let anyone in, no one is allowed to touch her, she secludes herself from everything. Her world is a mess as she waits for the unexpected.
“My soul is a hurricane, but everything is fine when you’re standing in the eye of it. I just can’t seem to find the eye and stay in it.”
She is strong, fighting her demons anyway she can. When she is weak, her poison of choice, is bourbon. Hiding in her fortress of a trailer is where she finds her peace. Magnolia knows that she needs to move on.
Enter….Bentley. He is her neighbor yet they barely speak. They form this “friendship” over the course of time but it turns to more. Magnolia is still in love with Cane, she can’t just forget him…can she?
Her world comes tumbling down on her in the blink of an eye.
“Fine. Life. The truth is, life is hard. Life hurts. It’s a complete shit show.”
She struggles to figure her life out. What is real, what is the truth, who can she trust. Magnolia wants to find happiness.
“I want to believe that we can still find a happily ever after but it seems so farfetched.”
There is only one way for her to do this…
“Adapt or die Mags.”
Objective will have you on the edge of your seat, wanting to take a shot of bourbon right along with Magnolia. You will think you know what’s going on and you will be shocked at the twists and turns this story will take you on! Don’t miss out on this!!
