Waking up in Vegas was never meant to be like this.
Evelyn Thomas’s plans for celebrating her twenty-first birthday in Las Vegas were big. Huge. But she sure as hell never meant to wake up on the bathroom floor with a hangover to rival the black plague, a very attractive half-naked tattooed man, and a diamond on her finger large enough to scare King Kong. Now if she could just remember how it all happened.
One thing is for certain, being married to rock and roll’s favourite son is sure to be a wild ride.
What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas….especially when you wake up and can’t recall any of it, including the schmexy man taking caring of you – even after you puked on him! Oh and let’s not forget the mountain of a rock on your finger and the name tattooed on your ass! Evelyn has apparently had the night of her life for her birthday and now it’s buried in her mind and she plans on keeping it there, a dark little secret. When their “marriage” clearly cannot be ignored (as it is making her parents disappointed and it’s hurting her career), David sends for Evelyn to get her away. My first thought was “OMG how sweet, what a great way to handle this!” I mean, I do have a thing for rock stars and all and I especially love when they do sweet stuff :) All Evelyn wants is an annulment so she can pretend like this never happened. When she arrives in LA she gets a taste of rock star living when she walks into a house party. Here is where I get mad….David has some bimbo hanging off of him and he tries to pawn Ev off on someone else and then he gives her a room and just leaves her behind to be with “bikini girl”.
When Evelyn finally meets with the sharks that David calls his lawyers she is beyond furious! All she wants to do is sign the divorce papers and move on with her life, not be paid off for her silence. She is a strong young woman who didn’t marry David for his fame or his money, hell she didn’t even remember meeting him LOL She stands her ground, tosses her ring at the lawyers and takes off.
When David finally finds her he takes her away….now he starts to win me back ;) David is intent on getting Evelyn to remember their night in Vegas. We start to see a softer side of the rocker and Evelyn does as well.
“All of the air left the room. Truth was, I wanted him. All of him. The good and the bad and the bits in between. I wanted him more than I’d ever wanted anything before in my life.”
My favorite part of reading is the development of the relationship between characters. I really liked it in this story. David tries different things to get Evelyn to remember their night and they slowly get to know each other. He wants to make this work and he wants her to see why.
“It’s you and me against the world.”
Back to disliking my rocker, he does something that Evelyn cannot forget or forgive him for. UGH! I was fuming!! What will he do to win her back, can he win her back? Evelyn remains strong and stands her ground….I really appreciate that in a female character. As always I won’t tell you what happens however I will say that David won my heart back!
