MUSIC HAS THE POWER TO HEAL ALL…BUT NOT ALL BROKEN HEARTS CAN BE MENDED.
Always in control, Xander Wilde considered life on the road to be a perfect fit for him. But when disaster strikes on the Wilde Ones’ latest tour, fate intervenes…and a newly single Ivy Taylor, the only girl he has ever loved, steps back into his life.
After moving past her painful breakup with Xander years ago, Ivy was poised to become the next big name in pop music…when suddenly she withdrew from the limelight—the same day she announced her engagement to her controlling agent, Damon Wolf.
Xander knows he should keep his distance. But once they’re on the road, he can’t resist pursuing her for a second chance. Yet a jealous Damon can’t let her go—and he’s keeping dangerous secrets that could destroy them all.
When the three of them come together, everything falls apart. But if Xander and Ivy can hold tight to the bond that connects them, they just might have a chance at reclaiming the powerful love they thought they had lost forever…
When I heard that I would be reviewing Mended, I not only jumped up and down but I did a stupid looking happy dance that kind of looks like a combination of twerking and seizing. Needless to say, I am a HUGE Kim Karr fan and couldn’t wait to dive into this book!
Oh, Xander, Xander, Xander. The older brother of THE RIVER WILDE. How could he not be completely bangable? At 30 years old, he is godly, he is sex to the extreme and after so many years he is still in love with his high school sweetheart, Ivy Taylor. Ivy was THE ONE that got away.
“In all the years we’ve been apart I’ve never found anyone that makes me feel like she does. It’s as if my heart closed off after our breakup.”
“The magic of rock and roll—it casts a spell on you. And I’m no exception. I’m a band manager and I’m living the dream, touring with the Wilde Ones, helping them secure their well-deserved place in the music industry.”
They are living that dream until their new lead singer Zane falls ill and cannot continue with their tour. Then OMG, who do they bring in for the singer, but wait for it, wait for it….RIVER!!!! I was fist pumping in my seat once he returned to his rightful place with his former band. Talk about swooning ladies; however he is only there for a short time though because his wife, Dahlia needs him at home. The Wilde Ones need to secure the lead singer spot or else the tour will be cancelled. But the band has already come up with a plan before she walked in the door. Ivy Taylor would be the perfect fit for the band but could Xander and her really be able to work together given their past??
“There’s a battle going on in my head—Why is she really doing this? Did she feel what I felt the minute I saw her again—that what we had so long ago was still there?”
It was Xander that broke Ivy’s heart all those years ago even though the real reason of the split Ivy was not aware of.
“All I felt toward him was hatred. I locked him away in my mind and tried so hard to never think of him. Now, without warning, he comes back into my life, and my world feels like it’s been turned upside down.”
Can they really try the friendship thing, for their sanity and the band’s knowing what sexual tension simmers deep below in both of them?
“Cupping the back of my neck, his strong fingers press against my skin. With just that one simple touch, a need that’s been buried for years surfaces, in the most out-of-control way.”
So let’s just say, this book proved my love for River wrong…I AM NOW IN LOVE with both brothers!!! Fuck, whatever is a girl to do except read all these books all over again!
About Kim Karr
I live in Florida with my husband and four kids. I’ve always had a love for reading books and writing. Being an English major in college, I wanted to teach at the college level but that was not to be. I went on to receive an MBA and became a project manager until quitting to raise my family. I currently work part-time with my husband and full-time embracing one of my biggest passions—writing.
I wear a lot of hats! Writer, book-lover, wife, soccer-mom, taxi driver, and the all around go-to person of the family. However, I always find time to read. One of my favorite family outings use to be taking my kids to the bookstore or the library. Today, my oldest child is in college and my twins are juniors so they no longer go with me on these outings. And although I don’t need to go to the actual store anymore because I have the greatest device ever invented—a Kindle, I still do. There’s nothing like a paperback. So now my four year old and I make dates out of going to the bookstore–it’s time I love and cherish.
I like to believe in soulmates, kindred spirits, true friends, and Happily-Ever-Afters. I love to drink champagne, listen to music, and hopes to always stay young at heart. <3
