I met Bianca in an elevator.
She was on her way to interview me when we got stuck.
The beautiful, raven-haired reporter assumed I was a delivery guy because of the way I was dressed.
She had no clue I was really Dex Truitt, the wealthy, successful businessman she’d dubbed “Mister Moneybags”—her afternoon appointment.
Bianca told me how much she hated Dex’s type—snobby, over educated, silver- spooned men who didn’t appreciate the simple things in life.
So, after the elevator finally started moving again, I cancelled the interview and let her believe I was someone I wasn’t—a bike messenger named Jay. I loved the way she looked at the fake me and didn’t want it to end.
I began dating her as “Jay”—all the while letting her interview the real me over email.
I didn’t expect that our chemistry online would be just as hot.
I didn’t expect the mess I’d gotten myself into.
I didn’t expect that Jay and Dex would fall in love with her.
And she was falling for two men.
Only, both men were me.
And when she found out, we were both going to lose her.
Nothing could have prepared me for that day. And I certainly wasn’t prepared for what came after.
All good things must come to an end, right?
Except our ending was one I didn’t see coming.
Mister Moneybags by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward has given us yet another book boyfriend (actually TWO) to swoon over. Jay and Dex, although the same man, are two different personalities that actually together create quite the perfect guy. But here lies the problem, he was both people yet our leading lady Bianca had no clue.
This time spent with her was possibly all I would ever have. Jay needed to exist just a little while longer.
I loved how it all unfolded, that Dex actually felt conflicted about this lies that he created. He kept digging himself deeper but had an end goal of coming clean no matter what the cost. Bianca had such great chemistry with both Jay and Dex, she could be two different versions of herself and let go in different ways with both of them.
“I’ve never felt connected to anyone like I do to you. It feels almost chemical. We haven’t know each other for that long, but in some ways, it seems like a hundred years, doesn’t it?”
^^^^hmmmmm wonder who said that, which swoon worthy guy said that to Bianca?? Once things unravel and honesty is a forerunner in their relationship, everything fell into place. The relationship was smooth and almost laid back, no jealousy that hindered them, no hard feelings when work gets in the way….once again we have “mature angst” which is a Schmexy fave!!!
But….there’s always a but. Then IT happens, the IT that you wait and wait for, the other shoe to drop, etc As their tag line always states, I did NOT see that coming. It was a good twist, made me a bit uncomfortable at times but I chugged through to the end and couldn’t be happier!
There was nothing that made you appreciate someone more than almost losing them.
