Max Riley is the man of your dreams. Or at least he will be, for a price.
As his alter-ego Mister Romance, Max is a drop-dead gorgeous escort who makes romantic fantasies come to life. No sex, just swoon-worthy dates to die for, and the cream of New York’s socialites can’t get enough. Whether they want a dominating billionaire, bad boy with a heart of gold, hot geek, sexy biker, or best friend who loves them from afar, Max can make it all happen, but he’s careful to keep his real identity a secret.
Enter investigative journalist Eden Tate. Having caught wind of the urban legend of Mister Romance from a lovestruck client, Eden is determined to publish a scathing expose on Max and his ability to swindle lonely society women out of their fortunes.
Desperate to protect his anonymity and his clients, Max challenges Eden to give him three dates. If she doesn’t fall in love with him, she can run her story with his blessing. If she succumbs to his charms, the story dies.
Cynical Eden has no doubt she can resist his fake romance personas, but when the real Max admits he’s falling for her, she has to decide if the professional liar is telling the truth, or if the passionate man with the mysterious past is just one more character designed to con her out of her career-making story.
Don’t miss this sizzling new standalone from the internationally best selling author of Bad Romeo, Broken Juliet, and Wicked Heart.
Jen and Roxie’s Review
If you’ve been following the Schmexies, it comes as no surprise that we adore Leisa Rayven. Her debut book Bad Romeo is one of our all time top reads and we always look forward to her next work!!!
Mister Romance pulled us in from the start. We were intrigued and drawn into the plot as it unfolded.
Eden Tate was an unusual heroine, guarded and closed off to romance. Working at Pulse, a news and entertainment website, she comes across a scoop that could potentially change her career as a journalist. There is a guy, a mythical creature really, his name is whispered amongst the elite of the city, they call him Mister Romance and his clients are willing to drop an insane amount of money to fulfill their fantasies.
So naturally her investigative journalist instinct kicks in, she wants the story, the mystery. She wants to discover the man behind the hype and expose his little game to the world. Easy peasy right??
But picture this… See the man over there? The dropped dead gorgeous one!! Yeah, that one. He is so hot, your panties will melt right off your body.
His body—chest, arms, back, even his adam’s apple, and those abs?!!! We’re licking them right now.
The one that when you eye meet every part of you is on fire.
And before Eden even begins to scratch the surface of Max she is already in his web.
They strike a deal, 3 dates. If she falls for him the story will be never published.
“We all have issues we’re trying to overcome, Miss Tate. Everyone wants to feel special, whether we admit it or not. And loving without limits and allowing ourselves to be loved in return is what life’s all about. Or at least, what it should be about. Everything else just gets in the way.”
To a girl like Eden, this should not be a challenge. She is cynical and romance or relationships are not in her repertoire. She is more of a ride them and dump them kind of gal. One nights stands are her expertise and certainly a fake romance escort trying to swoon her of her feet won’t be an obstacle on her path.
“If you buy a ticket on the Love Express, it comes with compulsory stops at Painville, The Isle of Co-Dependence, and Betrayal Central, so why get onboard in the first place?”
We fell for these characters. Eden with her prickly personality was a refreshing heroine. She was sassy and fun. And Max, God so swoony, the ultimate boyfriend. Fantasy and reality gets tangled up as they both try to pursue each other with very different motivations.
We loved how both of these characters were flawed beyond their spotless exteriors.
Their connection and sexual chemistry was so strong at some point we were screaming at our kindles “KISS KISS KISS ALREADY.” And when they did it was fireworks we tell you.
Overall we truly enjoyed this book. The ending kind of fell flat for us. It almost didn’t match the build up that we became addicted to throughout the story.
About Leisa Rayven
Writing has always been a passion for Leisa, and even though she originally intended to be an actress, it wasn’t long into her time at drama school that she began writing plays.
Those plays were bad. Very bad. Well, her friends thought they were good, but that’s because they were always cast in them and any opportunity to be on stage was met with an obnoxious amount of enthusiasm.
Since then, she’s honed her craft, and several of her plays have been produced and toured throughout Australia.
These days, playwriting has given way to fiction writing, and Leisa’s debut novel, BAD ROMEO, was published through Macmillan New York in December 2014. The sequel, BROKEN JULIET was released in April 2015, and the final book in Leisa’s Starcrossed series, WICKED HEART, released in May 2016.
The Starcrossed series has gained hordes of passionate fans all over the world, and the books have now been translated into eight foreign languages. Bad Romeo and Broken Juliet have also featured on international best seller lists in Brazil and Germany.
Leisa Rayven lives in Australia with her husband, two little boys, three cats, and a kangaroo named Howard.
(Howard may or may not be her imaginary marsupial friend. Everyone should have one.)
