With more lives at stake and games in motion, Ellie, Camden and Javier form an uneasy alliance that will take them from the treacherous streets of inner-city Mexico to the wilds of the Honduran jungles in order to find their freedom. But with liberty just on the horizon, the cost might come at their own redemption.
Well here we are, the final installment of The Artist’s Trilogy, Bold Tricks by Karina Halle. I must say that I am sad to see this ending, I truly enjoyed all 4 of these books! If you have not read the other books this review will contain unavoidable spoilers ;) I have a feeling this review will be unusually short for me though, there was SO much that happened I would ruin too much of the story for you if I talk for too long.
We once again pick up where our previous story ended…can you believe that Ellie, Camden and Javier will be working together to find Gus and bring down Travis?! Crazy! This was the most action packed book by far, it really brings us into Javier’s world and what his life is all about.
“Like, heart-racing, lungs-seizing, pins-and-needles-shooting-up-and-down-my-spine-and-massaging-my-head kind of nervous. Panic-attack nervous.”
As they travel through Mexico, finding people to help them on their mission, they are chased and shot at and double crossed. Ellie made me laugh out loud when she thinks to herself (as they are running across roof tops being shot at)
Javier is still hot for Ellie and boy does he let her know it. I was almost uncomfortable reading at points when he was being all suave while at the same time being an absolute twatwaffle! I am totally Team Camden, even more so after finishing this series. I think Ellie says it best,
Ellie and Camden find themselves abandoned and on their own, in a treacherous place nonetheless. What better place to finally talk about your feelings….
As they maneuver deep in the compound of the man that ruined Ellie’s life, their strength will truly be tested. They have to face more emotional and physical obstacles with every step they take. I really don’t want to reveal too much but I will say that you NEED to read this series. It is sexy and action packed and quite the thrill ride!!

The daughter of a Norwegian Viking and a Finnish Moomin, Karina Halle grew up in Vancouver, Canada with trolls and eternal darkness on the brain. This soon turned into a love of all things that go bump in the night and a rather sadistic appreciation for freaking people out. Like many of the flawed characters she writes, Karina never knew where to find herself and has dabbled in acting, make-up artistry, film production, screenwriting, photography, travel writing and music journalism. She eventually found herself in the pages of the very novels she wrote (if only she had looked there to begin with).
Karina holds a screenwriting degree from Vancouver Film School and a Bachelor of Journalism from TRU. Her travel writing, music reviews/interviews and photography have appeared in publications such as Consequence of Sound, Mxdwn and GoNomad Travel Guides. She currently lives on an island on the coast of British Columbia where she’s preparing for the zombie apocalypse with her fiance and rescue pup.
