“If opposites attract, then I am nothing. Because you, you are everything.”
There’s no easy road traveled to such an intense sentiment, one I never dreamt I’d feel…
But I also never planned on Cannon Blackwell climbing aboard my tour bus.
All of my instincts told me to read this book knowing what a huge SE Hall fan I was and I literally got stopped dead in my tracks at how amazing this was. She did it AGAIN with this read for me. SE Hall can do no wrong in my eyes!!! And god, could Cannon Blackwell have come any more Godlike; his eyes, his hair, his undeniable body, and his captivating personality did me in.
Elizabeth “Liz” Charmichael is on the road with her band See You Next Tuesday (yes, you heard me correctly, lol) along with her uncle, her brother, her two best friends and one other bandmate. Her older brother, Conner suffers from a brain injury therefore; she has brought him along to tour with them around the country playing gigs in bars and such.
All is well and good until Cami, her one group member throws a bitchy temper tantrum about her brother. Let’s just say the bitch was thrown out at the next rest area they could find, which her ass well deserved. Now all down on their luck, the group needs to desperately find a guitar player in the next day or so before their next gig comes around. Trying to come up with all kinds of ideas, Liz looks up and sees the sexiest man playing his guitar at the same rest stop they just kicked nasty Cami out at, so Liz being the leader sets out to see if he’d be willing to tag along.
“His head lifts and turns at my approach, connecting eyes as sable brown as thick molasses to my own. Up close, he’s better than photoshopped, a clear-cut case for Guinness Genetics. ‘Just fucked’ hair (isn’t that what they call it?) be damned. He’s got ‘just fucked her and she had to hold on’ locks.”
Yup, Cannon Blackwell looked as though he just stepped off a runway. He was also a little down on his luck because he just got thrown out of a car by his ex-fiancée. What better way to pick yourself up then take a drug test, a background check and almost a strip search and get on the See You Next Tuesday train as their next guitarist.
“What have I done? I’ve knowingly invited a walking, talking panty shredder onto my bus! How am I supposed to run a band, a family, take care of Conner, all while trying not to spontaneously combust?”
Liz and Cannon’s tension literally kills me throughout this book and you can’t help but scream “Please for the love of god, fuck already”, there was just that much tension. Cannon’s dirty mouth, his small touches on his Lizzie and his eye candy body was heating me up the entire read. But it was also the way he was with Conner that captivated me and the way he was with taking some of the daily pressures off of Liz, you just couldn’t help but route for them.
