I should be dead. I definitely shouldn’t be chasing the type of killers who ruined my life, but that’s what I do.
My mother was murdered when I was six years old and instead of running for help, I hid in the closet. Until the killer is found, I’m an unfinished job forced to look over my shoulder.
I’m Special Agent Brynn Bennett with the FBI, and I’m damn good at my job. My best friend and partner, Hunter Williams, and I track predators every day. It isn’t a job for little girls who hide in closets, but with Hunter by my side, there’s nothing I can’t face.
What I didn’t see coming was Benjamin Drake. He was next in line for the one-night stand I occasionally allowed myself, except he wants a happily ever after and he thinks I can give it to him.
I can handle death, monsters, and the evils that hide in the shadows, but a nice guy who wants to take care of me? I’m not so sure.
The better question is . . .
Can he handle me?
This book was just Wow!! The synopsis definitely had me thinking, “what the heck is this book about?”
I was so curious to know what the mystery was about because the synopsis had me itching for more.
Brynn has some serious shit going and it’s all a freaking mystery. Her past is what haunts her, and will forever haunt her. It’s what has her watching the shadows, watching her back because she’s being stalked.
Even though she’s an FBI agent and can protect herself, her evil past is catching up to her. Her partner Hunter, who is sooo yummy, plays a huge role in this story and is watching her back as well.
But so many different things are happening; other murder cases that might just be linked to her life are crossing paths. And you just don’t know who to trust.
This book scared the shit out of me. I lost count of the “WTF moments” in this story. It’s like Clue. Who the fuck did it? Who is the Shadow Stalker? One minute I swore it was one person…then the next your wrong…the evidence and dialog point you in a different direction. OMG!! I was totally losing my shit!
And then we have Ben. Her boyfriend, who is the kindest person ever; rich, good looking. And all he wants to do is protect Brynn. But with Hunter trying to protect her, and Ben….there just isn’t enough room.
Not to mention a crazy mother f’er is stalking Brynn. And EVERYBODY has some kind of motive or just looks guilty.
Seriously, reading Shadow reminded me when I used to read Mary Higgins Clarke mystery novels…always wondering who did it, what’s the evidence. Why? Where?
This story is action packed. You get everything; the thriller, the suspense, the romance. The craziness that had me on the edge of my seat.
I would definitely suggest you all read this. it’s something different, edgy and well worth it. 5 HOLLAS from me!!!
