For more than a year, Tanner West has tried to shake his feelings for his long time best friend, Paisley Bronson. She was the perfect girl to fit the lyrics in all his favorite songs – the girl he had always wanted. When she fell in love with another man before Tanner had the chance to tell her how he felt, he was left with no resolve to find love again. Burying himself in school and easy girls has become his new lifestyle, but when Kellee Brooks shows up at his favorite bar, he begins to think there may be another verse to his song, after all.
Kellee Brooks moved to New York City for one thing: escape. Growing up in a small town where her entire life was planned out for her, she’s desperate to break free and find herself without following the same path as her mom. Kellee thought working at the local dive bar would mean more money for school, but when she meets the smoldering, scarred honey eyes of Tanner West, she finds there’s much more hiding in the smoky building than just a few tips.
With Paisley still haunting Tanner and Kellee vowing to save anyone the trouble of loving her, will the pain and fear keep them apart – or will they find a way to rewrite their song together?
Break free with this heartbreaking story of letting go and letting love in.
Song Chaser is the second installment of the Chaser series. I LOVE LOVED Tag Chaser. Tanner and Paisley are best friends and when Tanner professes his love for her, she turns him down; she’s in love with Corbin, her man in uniform. I honesty fell in love with Tanner in Tag Chaser and was heart broken for him. So when I saw Tanner was getting his own story, I was all over it.
I’ll start by saying Kandi Steiner had me instantly hooked just from the prologue alone. My heart goes out to Tanner; the love he felt for his best friend Paisley, and how she turned him down. You really feel his heart ache, and at this point I am wondering how he will get over her…how will there ever be room in his heart for another.
Now, in Song Chaser, Tanner is nursing is broken heart and still trying to forget about Paisley. Living in NYC and working at the hosptial as a resident in pediatrics, he’s trying to move on. Then he meets Kellee, a bartender at The Box. And it totally throws him off balance. Typical Tanner style, he’s laying on the cheesy lines hard, but Kellee too smart for that. BUT…it’s when he hears her sing Karaoke, that’s when he’s taken by her. Kellee, and her cute upstate accent, and her voice. God, she can sing. And it’s not just her voice that has him tangled in her web…It’s her beautiful blonde hair, her freckles; she’s gorgeous. And already he’s given her a nickname, Frecks. (Which I think is freakin adorable!)
Kellee is worried that Tanner will break her heart if she gets involved; she heard about the “girl from Florida” that broke Tanner’s heart. Can’t compete with that. But she gives it a shot. They give it a shot.
Chapter after chapter I read, and couldn’t stop. I was so engrossed in this story. Tanner and Kellee have a great connection, and so much in common; their love of music, and underground bands. Tanner melts you; the things he does for Kellee, the places he takes her. He’s just thoughtful and so deep; he has so much to give and just needs to get the hell over Paisley. And Kellee does that for him. Kellee is so sweet, and considerate, and all she wants to do is help Tanner and move on. That’s one thing I love about Tanner and Kellee together, they are friends as well. It makes for the perfect couple.
Their back and forth banter is so entertaining, and makes for a very believeable connection.
The way he touches her, holds her…OMG the way he fucks her! Reading some of their sex scenes was unreal and so fucking hot!!! Hats off to Kandi for making me sweat…
“You have to be quiet, Frecks. I don’t want to be interrupted.”
She nods, her eyes wide. I leave my hand pressed against her mouth and use my other to lift her hips, our bodies moving together.
“I want you to fight it, bite my hand if you have to.”
OMG Tanner, I will BITE your hand!!!
He drives me bananas and Kellee, she falls for him HARD. Kellee has her doubts; not wanting to fall into the same path and mistakes her mother made. She fights it; she’s quite the tough chick. I LOVE her character; she’s tough and nails and doesn’t take shit. Especially not Tanner’s. And when faced with seeing Paisely and her man Corbin face to face with Tanner…oh shit goes down…
And this is where Trish turns on the water works. And then comes the angst. So many different emotions, I wanted to throw my kindle at somebody. Preferrably Tanner. He’s so confused and unsure and he’s taking Kellee down in the process. AND me too. My heart was in my throat, and I swear I hated the way I felt, but I LOVED this story. So much!!
“I just want you to leave, Tanner.”
I say the words, but I don’t mean them. My mind is screaming for him to stay, to choose me- to love me. I hold my stare and will the tears to stay hovering between my lids until he leaves. I don’t want to break.
This story kept you hooked. You can’t get enough of Tanner and Kellee. I promise you this whole series is sooo worth it. Trish Mint Approved and then some! The storyline is so realistic, which is another reason why it draws you in. Kandi is so descriptive. I felt like I was actually sitting in a huddle around a fire, at the Highline in NYC, listening to an undererground band while Tanner watches Kellee…kisses her…mezmorized by her. Okay, time for a re read!!! Ladies, get this series NOW!! HOLLA!!

About the Author
Kandi Steiner is a Creative Writing and Advertising/Public Relations graduate from the University of Central Florida living in Tampa with her husband. Kandi works full time as a social media specialist, but also works part time as a Zumba fitness instructor and blackjack dealer.
Kandi started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.” She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a die hard hopeless romantic (like most girls brought up on Disney movies).
When Kandi isn’t working or writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, talking with her extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys beach days, movie marathons, live music, craft beer and sweet wine – not necessarily in that order.
