After taking a job on a quiet Montana dude ranch, ex-cop Rylan Frederickson finds herself surrounded by unbelievably sexy cowboys. Too bad the one she wants is her boss…and the single dad of a four-year-old. It doesn’t matter anyway, because after a recent tragedy, there’s simply no more room in her heart.
Letting a new woman into their life is the last thing Cole Haywood wants for him and his daughter, Birdie. But as Rylan’s presence at Paint River Ranch breathes new life into his family he can’t ignore his growing attraction.
When the sparks between them turn into fireworks in bed, Rylan’s torn between the family she’s lost and the one she may have found. Now she must decide if something that feels this good is worth the risk.
If you don’t have a thing for cowboys now, then I totally suggest Tempting the Cowboy because boy, this book was amazeballs, baby!!! Three thumbs up for Elizabeth Otto.
“Escape. A clean, far, far away escape from the ache in her heart and the emptiness that never went away.”
Rylan Fredrickson needed to get far away. She needed a clean break from her past ghosts. So her therapist aka her best friend, told her to get away and that’s exactly what Rylan did.
The bus she was on took her to a bar close to her destination of Paint River Ranch, where she would wait to get a ride to her home and new job as the executive housekeeper. Little does she know her drunken fate, also known as her schmexy boss, Cole Haywood would come stumbling down the stairs at that same bar.
“Glossy black hair curled around his ears and the nape of his neck. A dark T-shirt hugged his broad torso, the one arm Rylan could see defined with smooth, bulging biceps as he put the hat back on.”
Holy hotness, I now officially would like to move to Paint River Ranch to get my cowboy on ladies!!!
From their first meeting, Cole is an asshat, but a very hot asshat to be exact towards Rylan. He doesn’t want him and his daughter, Birdie hurt again as they have in the past. Oh crap, I totally forgot, Cole has a 4 year old daughter which is the cutest darn thing in the world we come to find out. And Rylan doesn’t want to fall for another douche that will stomp on her heart or another child because of her past.
“Part of the reason she’d left Wisconsin was to try to restructure the memories of her daughter. She’d hoped that by getting away from the place where Rachel had been born and lived, her memories would lose some of their bitter edge and turn sweeter. Maybe she’d even finally come to terms with her guilt over how Rachel died.”
So the boss and employee fight their feelings for one another and even give in to temptation several times, but don’t push the envelope all the way until one night.
“What do you want from me? Cole gripped her arms tighter. I want you to kiss me….everywhere. She squirmed. A thread of resolve snapped, and he dipped his head to place little kisses over her jaw. She inhaled a sharp breath, pressed her breasts up against him.”
Ladies, let’s really be honest here, if you were in Rylan’s place would you have held out…..No way, exactly, because I sure as hell wouldn’t either.
After the blurred lines are crossed, can Cole and Rylan have a purely physical relationship with one another or can they each learn to bring down their walls and let love in. All in all, schmexy cowboys, hot sex, great story line, what else can make this story better….absolutely nothing at all!!! Way to go Elizabeth with this story because as I’ve said before, this story was amazeballs ladies.
