I was warned about Tristan Cole.
“Stay away from him,” people said.
It’s easy to judge a man because of his past. To look at Tristan and see a monster.
But I couldn’t do that. I had to accept the wreckage that lived inside of him because it also lived inside of me.
We were both empty.
We were both looking for something else. Something more.
We both wanted to put together the shattered pieces of our yesterdays.
Then perhaps we could finally remember how to breathe.
Jen and Roxie’s Review
Jen loved Loving Mr Daniels so when Brittany released the cover and the blurb for The Air He Breathes, we wanted to read it immediately.
The prologue of the book already gave us goose bumps. Learning about Tristan and what he had lost was heartbreaking. He was so broken, filled with pain and self-loathing.
Liz has been through hell and back. The only person helping her get through her days is her daughter, Emma. She is the light of her life and helps her to keep going.
Beth and Tristan are empty shells when they meet. Often people who have experienced tremendous loss are drawn to each other.
“He and I together was a terrible idea. We were both unstable, we were both shattered, and there was no getting around it. He was thunder, I was lightning, and we were seconds away from creating the perfect storm.”
The powerful story of Liz and Tristan—two people who go through unimaginable experiences, leaves us with a hope for a future. A future that can still come after surviving pain and devastation.
“You know that place in between nightmares and dreams? The place where tomorrows never come and yesterdays don’t hurt anymore? The place where your heart beats in sync with mine? The place where time doesn’t exist, and it’s easy to breathe?
“I want to live there with you.”
We loved Tristan and Liz, and Emma—she was just perfect. She added so much life and sparkle to the story.
And throughout the book we see them healing. Healing each other from the wreckage caused by life—life that isn’t always perfect. Life that sometimes hands us a fate that we think we will never recover from and yet there is always hope for white feathers.
Brittainy’s writing is fantastic and we can’t wait to read whatever she has coming up next!!
